“I commit that we will use these authorities to ensure that the housing GSEs provide stability and liquidity to the mortgage market, support affordable housing, and operate safely and soundly,” he said in a press statement released by the newly-minted FHFA.

I think Bush did a pro family thing today and was the right thing to keep family's in homes, children in school, and community's from blight

we can offset the 300 billion by bringing our troops home, get off of foreign oil and addiction to oil 700 billion a year, build that bridge to renewables but as a
Christian I am for keeping family's in homes and children in school and not uproot them.

Home is such a basic root for family's how many of those 400,000 people this will help are Christian? I would say at least half or even more. Even if you want to punish them for wanting to have a home, I cannot see throwing a family out of a home now. Perhaps Bush in conviction remembers he told people to spend, spend, and spend and he realized the consequences but he is still pro-home for family and children.

Also this guy is right , Bush told us to spend!spend!spend! after 9/11 against all biblical principle to save, save, and save. We do spend too much but people are hooked on gadgets and software and games.

The bible tells me a fool and his money soon part. The bible does not command me to keep giving the fool more money.

And this bailout does not cover everyone, I would advise you to read the fine print before declaring victory. I'll elaborate later.

If anybody has a link or finds a link to the site that has all the details on how to qualify for the bailout. Yes, I am one of those people that needs help.
I guess I wasn't looking ahead for gas and food to add an extra 450.0 a month to our monthly bills.

    Thanks inn advance,
    Hawg

Bush did a pro-republican thing, to try and salvage the elections. Lust and greed caused people to buy more house than they could afford with money they did not have, while lust and greed caused banks to loan money they should not have, and now the rest of us will pay for their sin. Heil Bush and the Fourth Reich.

Half or even more are Christian? That's about as naive as believing half or more who died in the Trade Center went to heaven. The Greek word for that is baloney, around here they say chicharron.

I guess if family and the Bible are wrapped around socialism American Christians will accept it.

Praise God, we all hope it is in the nik of time.

It is sad when that Bible Bus comes by and there is an empty house where once children are waiting to go to Sunday School or that knock on that door to invite someone to church. I know when I was a kid they came to my door and I went and I glad that I did and we had hard times and wondered if we would have to move and it really rocked a childs world to lose your home and that routine where you know that familiar church bus would go.

My Bus Captain <>< by Danny Bezet

Dad's asleep and Mom Doesn't care,
What I might do while they are not there,
Or if I am safe or get enough sleep,
If I am dressed or get something to eat.

But Jesus gave me my Bus Captain to hold,
who loves me and led me to the fold,
he tells me about the bible and the way I need to go,
and makes sure I remember that Jesus loves me so.

Monday through Friday my sister and I endure,
Because Saturday He's coming by for sure,
I'll rush to the door to let him in,
I know everything will be all right then.

Thing are not so good down here you know,
But I am sure that to Heaven I will go,
we'll stand there together, my Bus Captain and me,
and we'll be with Jesus for eternity.

Dear rdwhite I am more optimistic that children from these homes may they be christian or not christian that local church and to the Baptists credit have a bus
ministry that runs in a local neighborhood and the great thing is they take that
unbeliever just as unconditionally as the believers, I really see the glass half full. To have the vital community that is filled with family's in homes and not some empty houses on streets give them hope, like I said there is nothing like little kids excited to ride the Church Bus to a fun Sunday School or VBS.

Regardless if Bush did this for Republicans It was the right thing to do to keep familys in a home sweet home. amen

Don't worry. The money will not be going to fools but to bankers. Wouldn't be surprised if much ends up in Swiss banks.

Let me see if I understand this. People bought homes without any up front investment cash taking ARMs that they couldnt afford later on. So they were never losing any money of their own. There was never any of their own investment capital at risk in most cases. Now they are losing their homes because they lost on a risky investment. Now the Federal Government comes along and in essence is handing them the up front cash that they never had to begin with. Now what about all those people (like my wife and I ) who rent because they were smart enough not to venture forth into something that they couldnt afford. Is the government going to give them the funds that they need for a down payment for a house of their own? Why should people be rewarded for their foolishness?

    Yep, you got it right...

We are becoming an nanny state!

Correction... we are a nanny state...

People bought homes they couldn't afford, and now wants US to pay for them.

    What a great deal!!!
Getting something for nothing without taking any personal responsibility.

It is Robin Hood Politics at it's finest...

And Rev is right.. it is socialism.

Get used to it.. Americans have become so dependent on the Government they now complain and whine when they have to bite the bullet on their own personal mistakes.

Then they complain that the gov. is not helping them...

Here is a lesson... You are not entitled to be a homeowner just because you are a US citizen... I should not have to pay your mortgage payments... I have my own bills.

It is the same thinking as the generational welfare family that believes they are entitled to Food Stamps or the Welfare Check...

The Bible teaches us to Work and spend wisely...

We should not be mandated to give to the needy.

If someone is struggling in your congregation.. do the godly thing... and help them..
And this doesn't just mean a hand out.. but a hand up...

Some people have to be taught to think ahead, and to spend within their limits... that will help them more than just fisting over $1000s of dollars...

    Teach a man to fish...

The problem is, no one wants to go fishing anymore, they want me to do the fishing and then home deliver it!

Not only that, Tim, but some honestly think that's the purpose of the church, to give handouts, and you're not a "good Christian" if you don't "help the poor."

I have a problem with this because we are already taxed to death, and part of that tax money IS used to HELP THE POOR. We're already giving quite a bit. It goes for welfare programs, housing programs and health insurance for the poor and elderly, etc. I wonder how much more we'll pay to bail out the folks responsible for this?

A whole lot more than you think once the interest is calculated and paid to China and Russia (the bankers financing the bail out). They also financed the "tax rebate" from earlier this year. Russia and China need only dump our debt on the open market and we would be defeated without them having to fire a shot or launch a missile.
