TEHRAN, Iran

Iran closed a daily newspaper and a magazine, one of the publications said Tuesday, in a stiffening crackdown on the press.

Iran's hard-line judiciary has closed down more than 100 pro-democracy publications in the past five years on vague charges of insulting religious sensibilities or top clerics.

Since the election of ultraconservative President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the government has given the judiciary a free hand to prosecute its crackdown against the media, which began in 2000.http://tinyurl.com/a5qvr

We read about this type of thing going on in Iran, and it should make us be thankful that is live in America.

On this very board we argue about the media and if they lean Left or lean Right. Instead of arguing, we should just be thankful we have a media, and a government that let's us speak, even it's it against the government itself.

Thanks to the Founding Fathers for Free Speech!

On ABC World News Tonight, Bob Woodruff reported from Iran that he and his crew were detained for five hours and their tape was confiscated and later returned to them because they filmed the President of Iran's house! He remarked that things have been getting worse for journalists in Iran. Thank God we have a free press in this country.
