Study of John 3:16
Baptists are split on the specifics of John 3:16. When I was young, and the "Bible" was the KJV, we memorized the verse this way: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, so that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
1) The first issue is that some thought the verse was saying how much God loved. Now scholars translate the verse to indicate the idea is how or in what manner God loved.
2) Next, the translation of Kosmos (G2889) as world... -
Time of Creation
When does the Bible say people were created: Less than 7000 years ago? More than 13,000 years ago?
When does the Bible say the earth was created? Within a few days of humans being created. Several indeterminate periods, possibly thousands or millions of years long, before humans?
The answers are not blowing in the wind, but are made clear in scripture. See Job 38 for the answer.
If we estimate the generation time span for all the generations, listed specifically in scripture, from Adam to... -

Any Bible translation to actually say . . . ?
Any Bible translation to actually say eternal generation? -
Eternal Generation
Eternal Generation is the teaching that the divine relationship between the Father and Son within the Godhead is eternal and did not begin with the Incarnation.
@37818 has strongly denied this and views this divine relationship within the Trinity as having a beginning.
He is probably not alone., but I want to know how, under that teaching, this relationship changed.
The issues here include :
1. A denial of an immutable (in nature) God
2. A denial of YHWH being eternal (in nature)

Romans 9 Isn't What You Think It Is - continued...
I cannot figure out why threads keep getting shut down right in the middle of active conversations!
The first thread with this title was "Shut done due to length"! Well, just how much sense does that make? Here I am started another thread, with virtually the same title, wasting bandwidth with this new opening post explaining it's existence, just so that I can respond to direct questions people asked me in the original thread. So how is that supposed to be saving any "length"?
Here's a... -
Nicene Creed
The Nicene Creed forms the Doctrine of the Trinity.
It was written in 325 (a little over 50 years before the Catholic Church was planted). It would be added to in 381 but represents one of the main pre-Catholic Church creeds today.
Note - "catholic" in this creed means "universal", NOT Catholic Church (like Baptists used "catholic" in the 19th century to mean "true church").
The (Original) Nicene Creed of 325
We believe in one God, the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of... -
God Knows The Future
God knows every sin I would ever commit before He gave me the new birth. If I were somehow going to reject Christ in the future and die lost, God already knew that. Therefore, it would be a useless act to give me the new birth. God does nothing in vain. Once a person is born again, it is forever; it is eternal.
Scripture says to make your calling an election sure. Don’t just think you are saved, make sure you are. Examine yourselves whether you be in the faith. If we judge ourselves, we... -
Righteous Faith
A question to ask yourselves is "Does God credit the faith of some humans as righteous faith?" See Romans 4:4-5 and Romans 4:23-25. The answer of course is yes.
How about does God ask fallen individuals to put their faith in Christ? The answer of course is yes.
Does John 3:16 indicate everyone whose faith is credited as righteous faith will not perish?
The answer of course is yes.
Some claim individuals, after hearing the gospel revelation, choose to believe and thus save themselves.... -
Is the Doctrine of the Trinity wrong? (Eternal Generation/ eternally begotten)
As Baptists we are not creedal Christians. At the same time, we often define our doctrines by creeds as a historical representation of orthodoxy.
The Doctrine of rhe Trinity is expressed primarily in three creeds. The most often used is the Chalcedonian to express orthodox Christianity in regard to the Persons of the Godhead.
One important fact is that to deny one part is to deny the whole (it is to hold a different doctrine).
Another fact is that we, as Baptists, are not bound to...
