This year I went through John MacArthur's Devotional Grace for the Moment. I was generally good. Well, the year is almost over and I'm searching for another devotional for the upcoming year.

    Any thoughts?

I have used a Max Lucado one in the past. I can not remember the name of it. I gave it to someone needing a devotional.

It was good. I have found Lucado's study bible with the side notes to be a great devotional also.

I've gotten the Tabletalk magazine/devotional from Ligionier Ministries (R.C. Sproul). It's got some a couple of great articles then it goes through the month on one topic with either going through a passage of Scripture or passages that are on that topic. It's kind of like studying a sermon. I just subscribed for myself for 2 years. MUCH better than a little Daily Bread or something like that.

Henry Blackaby's "Experiencing God" devotional is a good one. Mine is a couple of years old though.

I just finished Daily Walk (devotional that incorporates reading the Bible through in a year, which I just completed using the HCSB). It was pretty good, and costs like $20 for 2 years worth that are mailed to you monthly.

Personally I use commentaries instead of old fashion devotionals. Right now I am going through Matthew using Craig Blomberg's commentary. I try to do a few verses each day. This way I get in the Word and I get some good commentary on each verse. This method does take a long time (mainly the way I do it). I have been working on Matthew since October and I am not even half way into the Gospel yet.

    The Valley of Vision
Well its not exactly a devotional, but it certainly serves the purpose of one real well. If I could only have one book besides my Bible it would probably be it. The Valley of Vision is a collection of Puritan prayers and meditations. Its all about the glory of God and the depravity of man and how God by His grace ransoms sinners for Himself. You will be blessed immensely.

    Martin,

I really never thought about going through a commentary, but the idea seems intriguing.
