    llegal immigrants might get stimulus jobs, experts say

    By William M. Welch, USA TODAY
    LOS ANGELES — Tens of thousands of jobs created by the economic stimulus law could end up filled by illegal immigrants, particularly in big states such as California where undocumented workers are heavily represented in construction, experts on both sides of the issue say.

    Studies by two conservative think tanks estimate immigrants in the United States illegally could take 300,000 construction jobs, or 15% of the 2 million jobs that new taxpayer-financed projects are predicted to create.

    Every news report I've seen on this issue blames the United States for allowing guns to go into Mexico. Amazing this issue didn't exist until a few weeks ago.

    In a couple of weeks, we'll have a shootout with the drug cartels and Obama will say our people are being shot at and killed by illegal guns coming from our own country and call for more gun control laws.

    And so it continues.

    I wish we would send some armed reinforcements to back our border patrol... and stop the illegal flow of people, drugs, and other contraband into our country!

    This is not a bash legal immigrant. It's a matter of supporting and protecting both our citizens and law abiding legal aliens alike!

    The governors of the border states have the authority to place their respective National Guards on the border. They should do so immediately.

    With some, everything is a bash Obama thread.

    If President Obama sends troops, it's bad, if he doesn't, it's bad. I see fairness is a lost art for some.

    I believe this is another positive move by our president. Living on a border state, I agree with this move. :thumbs:

    Actually, if he sends troops to the border, that's good. I don't see how sending troops there would be bad. The job of our military is to protect our borders. I think keeping our troops occupied in other countries where they aren't needed is going to set us up for disaster. One thing the president (& those before him) need to understand is we are supposed to be a republic, not an empire.
