Just wondering what others think when it comes to Afghan and Obama's current policy to "win" that war. For whatever reason, he seems to believe that Afghan is the war that came out of the 9/11 attack.....it is the war that has legalistic and populist backing?:tonofbricks:

I happen to believe that Afghan will be the war that comes between him and the Hollywood-type pacifist's:flower: here in the US of A....:wavey:

So do you think the war in Afghanistan is lost? Can we "win" the war in Iraq?

The problem with this war we are fighting is we won't win it unless we attack the root of the problem. This wasn't an attack from a specific country. This was a religious attack. The Islamic people think of us as infidels or as Satan. They have declared a jihad on us. Sending troops to one country won't keep them at bay.

Shortly after 9-11, Bush went into a mosque, read a few pages from an American translated version of the Qur'an & declared Islam a peacful religion. I think that was a bad move.

My way of looking at it is if Christians have been known to "backslide", isn't it possible for a Muslim to do the same thing? What if a Muslim who has backsliden suddenly realizes he has done wrong, then suddenly decides the only way he can put things right between him & his god is to strap a bomb to his chest & kill as many "infidels" as possible?

We haven't tried to win a war since 1945. (not counting Grenada in 1985 (?) ). We now fight "not to lose," which is a problem. And that's been true of D and R presidents.

We may be too far removed now, I don't know...but going after Afghanistan always had a good bit of support.

We're not talking about Iraq. We're talking about Afghanistan.

Technically true. However, they did give significant aid and comfort to Bin Laden, and served as a training ground for the cretins that did attack us.

Most Americans (and I'm among them) have thought pretty much from the get-go that an Afghanistan attack would make sense.

But...I think people forget how difficult winning a war in that place can be (see USSR, early 1980's).

Actually, that has never been proved. Go to the FBI web site www.fbi.gov
and look at the dossier on bin Laden. There isn't enough proof to charge him for anything related to 9/11. he is charged for other terrorist activities. Strange isn't it?

What's strange is the conspiracy nut theories you put out regarding 9/11.

I'm saying here that the FBI has insufficient evidence to charge bin Laden with anything related with 9/11. In answer to your question, no. I'm no longer certain the war in Afghanistan is just. I've always believed that the Iraq war wasn't just.
