Why are there locks on the topics that seem controversial?

I've noticed that the threads that seem somewhat controversial are always locked. Why is that? I would love to give my opinion on some of them.

Mostly because a few posters choose to ignore the rules and choose personal attack instead of substance. Or they choose to ignore the topic of the thread and go off on their own agenda.

Or the threads have reached the limit on the pages allowed in that room.

That is why you will see some active threads saying "Part 2" or a repeat of the title in other words.

You can start your own thread if the subject interests you. We love to beat dead horses.

One would have to admit that if it were not for the dead horses this would be a pretty boring place to say the least.

And that information is from the horse's mouth.

BTW, no one stops someone from reopening discussion on a topic where cogent material has not yet been uncovered.

We DO have a lot of topics on
    Bible translations
    Calvinism v error
Alcohol or other areas of personal separation
Famous dudes - MacArthur, Spurgeon, Piper, Calvin, Bob
Cruisematics and their schismatic teaching on tongues, healing, miracles
    Fads and foibles within fundamentalism
    Covenant v Dispensational approaches
    Education/schools

So we advise - READ WHAT IS THERE ALREADY! Then, after searching out the subject, you might have further questions. It's okay to start a new thread . . or add to one that was discussed months ago.

And don't worry when people laugh or call you names. Remember these are the same ones who wouldn't let poor Rudolph play in any reindeer games . . .

Hey Dr. Bob? Is a cruisematic a charistmatic on a cruise or is there a new sect out there that I haven't heard of?

Actually, I believe a "cruisematic" is an automatic transmission (torque converter) manufactured by Ford for Galaxies in the 60's.

The name is actually Cruise-O-Matic® for the Ford automatic transmission, to which you are referring.

However, certain threads start off in Powerglide® but very quickly wind up in 'overdrive' it seems. ;)

If you want to comment, start a new thread. Though I would advise checking on the closed thread to see if it was closed with predjudice. That doesn't happen very often but it does.

Also, we try to run a sheep feeding business not a slaughter house.

    No, dead horses are boring.

Watching people beat them can be thrilling.

Ed, Funny you should mention it, as a young man I had a 56 Chevvy with Powerglide®, a two speed automatic transmission. It shifted (lurched) into 2nd gear at 38 miles per hour.

Oops I'm getting off the thread subject (does anyone remember what it was)?
