Vice President Joe Biden, expressing his solidarity with organized labor, told the AFL-CIO Executive Committee on Thursday that "rebuilding our broken economy gives us the opportunity to get it right and reward workers." Union workers.

“We're going to make sure that in every policy, every decision, we don't lose sight of the folks that brought us to the dance,” he said -- a reference to organized labor’s support of the Obama-Biden ticket. “And toward that end, we have to make sure that the jobs we're creating come with fair wages and decent benefits.”

Biden told the union executives at the five-star Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami that "economic injustice and inequity are bad for everyone. It's just not right and everybody knows it -- it's just not right when the average CEO makes $10,000 more every day...than what the average worker makes every year.” he said.

I would love to see an increase in union jobs across the country. Of course, I think union contracts should be fair, and thereby profit both the workers and the company.

While I believe its only right for workers to earn what is a fair wage and reflective of the worth of their labor....... I would also like to see some people ........ including executives, CEO's, some specialists, attorneys, government workers and particularly government appointees and elected officials...... esteem themselves as worth a bit less than what many of them do.

But I also think its the process of a free market and not government to determine the work and fair cost of labor.

Both unions and government have ways of becoming bullies and that doesn't help a free market. Neither does allowing consolidation of industry encourage competition between products for both quality and production and prices, nor at keeping the wages at both top and bottom at a reasonable margin within the companies overhead from earnings.

Neither government nor unions are responsive, or very responsible for that matter, to a free market, nor to a captured market.....which it now is and has been progressing towards for some time now. Instead of small adjustments and small ripples being felt here and there when smaller markets find they need adjusting to economic conditions and fluctuations..... we have massive consolidation and a lot of optimistic denial at the top which delays adjustments and deceives many of their caution in investing so that the flood gates aren't opened in time to protect the dam from bursting.

These 'bailouts' and 'recoveries' are designed to enlarge government and the numbers of people dependant on government for their employment, to pay back industry, businesses, and special groups like unions, for their political support, and are in competition with economies, business, work and endeavors of those which remain outside those entities which are targeted. While government grows larger....the demands and the coercion upon those who are still free grows more forceful and unpredictable.

So, admittedly, the 'stimulus' is for some and not others, they mean to benefit those who helped him win, and leave out everyone else.

If workers are given a choice, it won't happen.

Just 9% of Non-Union Workers Want to Join Union

    Monday, March 16, 2009

Union members tend to believe that most workers want to join a labor union. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 47% of union members hold that view while only 18% disagree.

But those who don’t belong to a union hold a different perspective. By a 56% to 14% margin, they believe that most workers do not want to belong to a union.

As for personal preference, only nine percent (9%) of non-union workers would like to join a union. Eighty-one percent (81%) would not.

Would you rather be unemployed or have a union job? Personally if I were unemployed I could care less if the job was union or not ... it would be a job.

and give away paycheck to an organization you do not agree with what they say and do and who they support, even if it violates scripture.
