Imagine if you were told that, as a result of a genetic disorder called Joubert syndrome, your two month old daughter would die without the use of a respirator. Imagine if you were told that without it, she would stop breathing.

Now compound that with the fact that another child nearby needs a heart and your daughter could be the donor, if only she were dead. The doctors are telling you to let your daughter “die with dignity.”

    What do you do?

Faced with the same situation, Jason Wallace and Crystal Vitelli chose to remove the respirator and let their daughter Kaylee stop breathing.

    She didn’t:
…on Tuesday, doctors removed the respirator and Kaylee was expected to fall asleep and stop breathing. After she stopped breathing, her heart could be removed shortly after cardiac arrest. But Kaylee did not fall asleep and continued to breathe, causing doctors to remove Kaylee from the organ donors’ list in accordance with the hospital’s ethics policies.

How sad. This child CAN survive - she only needs help to breathe when she sleeps - yet he wants to have his child die.

Why does he want his daughter to die so bad...so he can save another child? As a father, I can't grasp that notion...

I agree, he doesn't want her to die just to help save other child.

I can't even begin to grasp that notion either.

But thankfully for all of us, our Heavenly Father grasped that notion. :praying:

He had his own Son to die to save all of us. :jesus:

BTW, I am not in any way, supporting what is apparently the wishes of the parents (who are giving that word a 'bad name' IMO), who maybe are searching for some 'perfect' child, rather than the one they have.

Oh yeah! I also have a breathing machine (CPAP) for sleeping, so I'm pretty sure I really don't want them to be too close when I am asleep!

These situations will become more and more prevalent with the acceptance to abortion that we are seeing. If you can abort just prior to birth, then why not just after. I mean you can save another babies life and this one is no good anyway. I mean come on it has red hair. Who wants a kid with red hair. The other kids will make fun of them. Let's just go ahead and give this heart to the other kid and we can have another.

Yes, it's a very slippery slope.
