The positive side of Climate Change:

// Energy Secretary Steven Chu says the problem of climate change is driving smart minds back into science and engineering. //

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/video/2009/04/15/VI2009041503516.html

(page starts with a 15-second ad)

This shows one positive affect/effect (Choose the correct one) of the Climate Change discussion. Instead of more engineers working on ways of blowing up the world, they can work on climate/weather.

The climate here in South Carolina changes 4 times a year and has at least since 1960. Before that I am not sure since I lived in Virginia where the climate also changed 4 times each year. I don't know about Oklahoma.

I suspect that if all those smart minds being drawn back into science and engineering could find a way to remove the tilt in the earth's axis we might not have climate change. Something to work on ED.

I was born in the Panhandle of Texas and graduated High School, and college twice in central Oklahoma. (all between the two canadian Rivers, well the first college degree was in Ada, south of the south canadian river about 8 miles). Neither place has climate, just weather. The weather changes more frequently than climate. The problem is Global Heating, not the wimpy 'climate change'. Climate Change in Oklahoma IS THE CLIMATE.

We use a lot of wind energy in Oklahoma: Most of our weather is that Texas blows and Kansas sucks. (except when it is cooler up north, Kansas blows and Texas sucks  ).

Oklahoma voted 60% for McCain, cause the current president seems to be anti-fossil fuel, which Oklahoma is a net producer (we have lots of Natural Gas).

My early life choices was to live in a non-nuclear target zone. (in 1963) I started Teacher's college at Ada, Oklahoma (East Central College then). I finished that training in 1969 and started teaching mathematics at Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. In 1973 I rethought my postion, decided it wouldn't be so bad to live close to a nuclear target, as after an all-out nuclear exchange, life any body left would be in dire straits the rest of their life, if any. In the late 1970s the only 'climate change' worth worrying about was the Nuclear Winter following a nuclear exchange. But that didn't happen, the US, Russia, and China (the main nuclear powers) being non-suicidal by nature.

I guess it is every Chinaman's dream to spend 30 minutes twice a day to commute to work? Why do Americans have the right to polute our planet more than them?

I'm driving a big ol' V8 Chevy Silverado today - crew Cab. My little 21 mpg 2009 Chevy Malibu (4-cylender) has a couple of fine tunings due. I sure have a big carbon footprint today :tear: (but it is smaller than Al Gore's footprint)
