I have been considering getting an audio Bible in MP3 format. I don't have an Ipod or mp3 player, so I was looking at the Go Bible and the Wow Bible. The Go Bible is much cheaper and I like the narrator better than the Wow Bible narrator.

Do any of you use one? How do you like it?

I listened to Alexander Scourby read the Bible on cassette for years, when I updated to CD I bought that NKJV New Testament Walmart sells for $25 or so... Its "earamated' (a made up word for audio animated) by a ton of 'stars'. I really enjoyed it, the differing voices made who was saying what really stand out, the sound effects are cool too.
I put it in a box when we sent christmas boxs to the troops from our congregation..... I really need to buy a new set.

I'm unsure what your wanting to spend but it may be cheaper to buy a cd set and a mp3 player than it would be to buy a specialized deal. You can rip the cd's to your pc in mp3 format and download it to your mp3 player.... If you had space left over you could even download sermons to listen to.
Another money saver, if you like the KJV you can find places online that will let you download it in mp3 format for free.

Do you like it? I ask because I've been thinking about getting this exact thing myself, although I might rather have the NIV.

==I love it. It is read by Mike Kellogg of Moody and has some actors/sound effects at different parts. The music is really nice as well.

The version I am referring to can be found here. There is a new version out, I think called "Bible Alive", and it is read by a different person (etc). So I can't speak about that one. When my grandmother, who went to be with the Lord in 2000, went blind she was using a KJV on tape. I purchased the New Testament NLT w/ Mike Kellogg on tape for her and she just loved it. Way better than the old, dry KJV tapes she was listening to. After she died I found the tapes, she had literally worn them out in less than a year. That is when I purchased my cds (the whole Bible). It is by far my favorite.

I cannot believe no one has mentioned Max Macleans "Listeners" Bible!

I have it on my MP3 player. And it comes in the ESV!!

No one, in my opinion, can match Max Mcleans Bible reading skills.

Also, their are "Christian classics", in audio form as well. You can listen to "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" free! Awesome stuff!

    Stop!!

    Too.....many......choices!

I'm going to check out all the suggestions. Thanks guys. Keep um comin'.

I don't have an mp3 player, so I would first have to purchase that, which isn't cheap I don't think. Then get the disks(?). It seemed like getting the one that has the bible already loaded was more cost efficient. It also has bookmark function and other aids.

I have to do some more research. This is fun.

    Amy,

You can buy a pretty good Mp3 player from Wal-Mart for less than 40 dollars.

Wow! No that's more in my price range. Are you talking about an Ipod? Or another brand? Will they hold a lot of files for that price?

I use a VIDEO Bible- at least the NT. Of course, it is for the deaf.

I bought my 2 gig Muvo at Amazon.com for less than $40.00. It works just as good as an Ipod.

Do you use it for the bible? If so, which software do you use? Other books?

I don't even know how to use an mp3 player. My son has one that he paid big bucks for, but that's because he's a computer geek (and does so for a living too) and he likes to have the biggest whatever is available.

I want to be sure I'll use it before I buy one. Right now that's my biggest concern. I don't want to waste the money.

Ok. I did it. Found a Samsung mp3 player on Amazon for $48. If you sign up for their credit card, you get $30 off your order, so I did, making the player cost $18! (I do a ton of business with Amazon anyway)

I ordered The Listener's Bible from All Bibles.com for $37 bringing the total to $55 for the whole setup.

Not too shabby! Thanks to everyone!

Apparently you missed my post where I linked to Mac Mclean :)

I just didn't mention his name in the post itself :)

But yes, I do like the ESV, that is one of the two main versions used at my church.

I have the entire Bible on cassette tapes; I'm old fashioned and prefer tapes to CD's. I take about a 45 minute walk nearly every day (weather allowing), and I listen to one side of a tape as I walk. They are 45 minutes per side, which works out quite well for my walk.

Hey Dale, I just noticed where you had commented on "earamation".
I disagree. Dramatization would include adding drama, as nothing changes but some voices and a bit of back ground sound, I'm sticking with "earamation".......

OR in other words, thanks for fixing my brainfreeze  I couldn't remember 'dramatization' that night so I just made one up trying to create new computer lingo.
