Have you ever changed political parties? If so, what was the reason?

Note: If you are registered as "independent" or "non-enrolled" consider that as a "third party"

Is there actually a list of offical positions governing each party or are these all just relative to which way the wind blows?

We have Arlen Spector as a Republican representative here in Pa (Well he just changed over to Democrat) but he has always been pro-murder so I could never vote for him even though I am a Republican.

I changed from Republican to American Independent which now merged with the Constitution party because Republicans weren't conservative enough for my taste

I voted "other" because I hate all political parties. I think they are all corrupt and/or ridiculous.

I used to be conservative, and now I'm not quite as conservative. But I'm conservative enough to feel few in Washington represents me.

Because it would corrupt me.

Plus, I hate politics. God has called me where I serve now -- as a missionary in an educational and outreach ministry.

Imo, no one can reach the higher levels of politics without compromise, unsavory dealmaking, and unbelievable ambition.

Corrupt you- if God did call you into politics and you walked with him than you should strive not to be corrupt. Would it be hard of course - just like a misisonary - its hard to serve but if God calls you...

One of the pastors in our association is also mayor of his village in the Southern Tier!

There is nothing wrong with comprising - in itself. (in fact - there is a lot of comprising in our local churches) Unsavory deal making is another story though.

But if people can't treat their president better on BB, I may either leave BB or Become Democrat. Obama is the best President of the USofA that we have right now.

If I down load another copy of Spell check (I suspect my dates from 2005) will I get a Spell Check that can spell 'Obama'?

As far as what I'm registered as, I put down Republican, but (at least in the Presidential elections) I've often voted 3d Party. Last Nov I voted Constitution Party.

(Technically I voted "Independent" because in TN, all 3d parties were labelled "Independent" in the Presidential portion of the ballot. There were quite a few "Independents" on the ballot so you had to know the candidates' names in order to vote for the "Indpendent" you wanted.)

I have been cautious about identifying myself as being part of certain political parties. Growing up, I used to believe the Republican Party was the right party for our country. Since the mid 1990's I have begun to have doubts. True conservatism has been giving way to compassionate conservatism & neoconservatism, which in my book is another word for being moderate or slightly liberal. Lately, I have been voting for the person & not the party.

Generally, in the local & state elections, I will vote Republican. The first & only time I voted for a Democrat, was in 1998. The Republican running for Lt. Governor was a supporter of Bill Clinton. The bad part was, he wasn't apologetic for it. He won, & actually did a better job than I expected him to do.

In the last three presidential elections I have voted for third party candidates. In 2000, I voted for Pat Buchanan who ran under the Reform Party. In 2004, I voted for Michael Peroutka of the Constitution Party. In 2008, I voted for Alan Keyes who was running independently.

The reason I didn't vote for the Constitution Party candidate in 2008 (Chuck Baldwin) was because he was wanting Ron Paul to win the Republican nomination. While I respect Ron Paul & have never seen him trying to answer a question just to win people over, he believes that abortion is okay.

If the Republican Party would get their act together, I would be supportive of them in the next election. They need to understand, when you put people who are not conservative in the driver's seat, you'll lose everytime. They also need to stop snubbing the true conservatives of thier party. In 2000, Alan Keyes stayed in the election until the very end. He wasn't even asked to speak at the Republican Convention, but they thought it was okay to put Hollywood celebrities on. I think if the Republicans lose the next few elections maybe they will begin to understand that you can't win by copying the Democrats.

    Old Indian (Native American) sayings:

When Peter speaks ill of Paul -- it speaks little of Paul and volumes about Peter.

Friends are as smoke; enemies are as mountains.

The best president of the 21st century (2001-2100) is Obama. Recall the competition is George Bush (2ed G.B. president).

When a person speaks glowingly of a president who advances abortion and funding for abortion and has a proven record of condoning infanticide, it speaks volumes about that person. :tear:

I have been a Republican my entire life until this last eight year circus. Never again will my name be on that roll. Anyone who is conservative should be quite ashamed of the Republicans.

I am. Both major political parties have demonstrated they care nothing for the tax payers who voted them into office.

Comparing Obama to Bush isn't saying much. Besides, if I was a Bush fanatic & thought that Bush was great, it still wouldn't be saying much comparing him to Obama, because I think they are both worthless presidents in my book.

You also might want to wait until the end of the 21st century before you automatically crown him as being the best this century. His presidency is not over yet, he may do a complete 180 & do really well, or he can keep going the same direction he's going & continue with more of the same. Also, you never know, another president may come along & do even better than Obama (which wouldn't be too hard to do).
