An open question to the BB Administrators and the Moderators of this Forum:

The recently closed thread on the subject of predestination (and which most assuredly did need to be closed because of the personal attacks, IMO) was closed by a Forum Moderator on page 12 in post # 118, with these words.
However, I would note that only a month earlier, a different thread on "Calvanism" (sic) (which thread also merited closing, because of 'straying' from the OP, and more than enough snipping, again IMO) was closed by a Forum Moderator on page 31 in post #304 with these words.
Note that I do fully agree that both threads should have been closed, IMO, for whatever that opinion is actually worth, as I neither have nor do I pretend to claim any influence with 'the BB Brass' above that of any other BB member.

However, I do have 4 questions, considering that "old math" skills are all I possess.

#1.) Has the "page limit" been changed over the past month without any general notification, as I have seen none, at least that I have noticed?

#2.) If so, "Why?", if I may so ask.

#3.) Did I merely miss it, and if so, where is this to be found?

#4.) Or is there some unstated (and somewhat arbitrary, IMO) difference between "10 page 'norm'" and "30 page 'limit'" in view, here?

    Just for information, please.

Not that they need or seek any of my permission, nevertheless, I give my advance permission to the Administrators and Moderators to close or delete this thread at their discrimination upon responding with the answers to my questions.

Thank you for your patience and indulgence.

    Ed

This thread will be shut down post haste, as it will soon reach it's one page limit. :tongue3:

I believe too many here have too much time on their hands to cause strife and complain about things.

    Where's the EDIFICATION!

I believe this to be a legitimate question and doesn't deserve criticism. There should be consistency. One subject shouldn't be closed because it reached it's limit of 10 pages, and yet another doesn't reach it's limit until 30 pages. What IS the limit, and why does it vary from subject to subject?

I can certainly understand closing a subject because of too much arguing or name calling or because of it not being suitable for a Christian Web site, but we should have consistency with a specified page limit for ALL subjects. Once I've said all I have to say, I seldom see a need to continue going into any subject and reading the same replies over and over.

Also, why is someone criticized for simply asking a question? I'll make sure i don't ask any questions here.

Does the beliefs of the moderators enter into when a thread is closed? This could apply to any thread in any forum, not just the one mentioned here.

If you have a question or complaint regarding the rules of the BB you are suppose to pm the mod or administration not broadcast your complaints in open forum.

It's not a complaint but a question and is confirmed consistantly in the OP as such.

The question is most likely set out in the Forum to get a standard answer for 'everyone' to obtain information that is 'seemingly' not yet set forth to BB community at large.

FTR, by no stretch am I complaining, at all. In fact, I noted that both of the threads mentioned definitely merited closing. I am merely asking for the benefit of all of us, on this particular forum. The 'Current Events' forum has a well-publicized 3 page limit; the 'Politics' forum has one of 10 pages; the 'Bible versions forum is that of 20 pages, I believe, and in some cases and subjects may be limited to fewer pages than this, as few as 5.

I certainly have no problem with any of this, but were I going to attempt to get deep into a discussion, in posting, I likely would be far more likely to do so, when the thread is on, say, post # 97, if I knew it would last for another 20 pages, than if it were going to be shut down potentially after another few posts, given I type very poorly, and would see little reason to inject something that would not be responded to, in a proper manner. :type:

I would simply merely refrain from posting any substantial post in the thread, also given I am usually not one to take some 'drive-by shot' and that by my very nature.

That's all I meant or intended.

    Good Answer

I believe you may well have explained this perhaps even better (and certainly in fewer words) than I -

and I even happen to be the originator of the thread, no less.
