You should be able to, unless you already voted.

We use the financial course as an outreach to the community, so our target audience includes those who are unsaved and unchurched, hence we prefer FPU. If our target audience was mature Christians, who faithfully tithe and serve the church we would use Crown.

In the first case, shouldn't you be teaching Christ and him crucified? In the second . . . why should a mature Christian need this course?

Is this more about fund raising than personal development?

In the first case, we use FPU as an outreach to get an opportunity to preach Christ and him crucified to people who would not normally come to our church.

In the second case, there are many Christians who do need a financial course. Just because they tithe and serve the church does not mean they are financially healthy.

Lastly we only charge what the materials cost and many times people in the church give scholarships so that people in the community can take the classes at half cost or no cost. We don't raise any funds. It is about personal development and an opportunity to reach the community for Jesus. We have personal testimony of a woman on welfare who now has a job and a savings account and has vowed to never get back under the system.

Lastly, I am not sure what your problem is or why you make judgmental assumptions about our motives and our ministry, but I don't appreciate it.

Good for you and your congregation. I am always suspicious when people want to talk about other people's money.

Yes, it's a lazy question that I could research, but so be it. What's the difference between Crown and Ramsey?

Yes me too. Paul really made me nervous in the Bible when, under the inspiration of the Spirit, he talked about people's money. I still can't believe he did that ...

Seriously, Bill, did you think about that before you wrote it? What in the world was going through your mind? The Bible clearly talks about money, and yet it makes you nervous??

Are you opposed to churches doing discipleship about stewardship? I'm confused here. And there was this one guy who talked about money and possessions all the time. Moreso than heaven or hell combined. His name was Jesus.
Crown Financial Ministries (www.crown.org) is a ministry designed for churches and christians. It's purpose is to aid them with respect to what the Bible teaches about stewardship, investing, etc. Dave Ramsey is more of a popular teacher, writing some self-help financial stuff, according to him that is based on a Christian worldview. Crown typically starts with Scripture and talks about finances. Dave talks finances/economics and occasionally throws in something religous. He does have Financial Peace University which is used by some churches. In large measure, Crown stuff is church based. I've seen non-profits use FPU. Crown is more explicity Christian. Hard to miss it. Dave is more for the popular masses. I've met several Dave fans who are surprised to hear he's a Christian. It's not that Dave is unscriptural. It's just that he just so happens to end up there. CFC starts there.

Sounds like I'm beating up on Dave. I'm not. It's just that the two are different from each other but do have some similarities in what they do (Publishing, broadcasting, etc.) which causes people to erroneously lump them together.

    Make sense?

I would rather use a hybrid. I teach my own. I like CFC stuff more than Dave, but I use some stuff FPU teaches in my counseling (It isn't unique or coined by Dave). Cross TV has some good general stewardship material.
