Every year thousands of Christian teens come to a church camp called Falls Creek for one week out in the summer with bible study and praise. It is a lovely place with swimming and other things for everyone to do. They have a tabrenacle that used to be for outdoor worship services that wasn't enclosed but had a stage and so forth to keep with Camp but now it is gone and replaced with a indoor worship tabrenacle with air conditioning. The problem is that its the cabins are becoming huge buildings that are air conditioned and it makes the smaller churches to look bad just standing there in the way. The small baptist churches aren't able to afford these improvements that are being made. I would like you all to pray for those in charge of this camp and the SBC that they will not let this happen and God will keep this little piece of heaven from being corrupted. Thank you and God bless

Man things have changed. We stayed in tents when I used to go to Bible camp and you had to hang your food up a tree to keep the bears out of it. The tabernacle was octagonal and if you wanted air conditioning you asked one of the fellers to prop up another section of wall!

    Understand your concern, Doeroftheword. :praying:

I don't quite understand this part:
    >> The problem is that its the cabins are becoming huge buildings that are air conditioned and it makes the smaller churches to look bad just standing there in the way. The small baptist churches aren't able to afford these improvements that are being made. <<

Probably what is being said is that there have been a lot of "improvements" to cabins where campers reside for the week to include airconditioning, but has been done by larger churches to their larger cabins.

There are a lot of smaller cabins owned by smaller churches who cannot make similar improvements to their cabins.

I went to Falls Creek as a youth and loved it. I sat in the old tabernacle, and stayed in some of those festering hot cabins. All for joy.

But, I would probably love it now, too.......

OK, so individual churches own their own cabins, rather than the campground owning the whole facility. I see.

That's different from what I have experienced. The campground owns the facilities. The campground may be owned by a group, association or fellowship of churches, but no one has an individual building.

Maybe some of the larger churches could take on the smaller cabins as a missions project. Just an idea, not sure how workable that is.

I think that could be workable, if both churches/groups agreed.

But actually, some of the cabins ought to be torn down. (Although it has been a number of years since I have actually been to Falls Creek--I know they have gone through a lot of changes as it is.)

    :praying: souls are saved
and many will dedicate their lives
to serve the Lord. And for any
building needs that need to be
    repaired or replaced.

Camp is a great time for young
    people who will have everlasting
    memories of the event.
