As President Obama's Supreme Court nominee comes under heavy fire for allegedly being a "racist," Judge Sonia Sotomayor is listed as a member of the National Council of La Raza, a group that's promoted driver's licenses for illegal aliens, amnesty programs, and no immigration law enforcement by local and state police.

According the American Bar Association, Sotomayor is a member of the NCLR, which bills itself as the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S.

LaRaza's goal is to eventually reclaim the southwest for Mexico. It makes sense that this president would appoint such a person.

    Let's look at these items:

Alberto Gonzales address to La Raza: www.nclr.org/files/30150_file_Remarks_of_Attorney_General_Alberto_Gon zales_National_Coun_.pdf

John McCain addresses La Raza: www.nclr.org/content/news/detail/52276/

George W. Bush addresses La Raza: www.nclr.org/content/news/detail/2178

Karl Rove addresses La Raza: www.nclr.org/content/news/detail/40591/

So, let's add this up - a Republican attorney general, a Republican presidential candidate, a Republican president(who won twice with the backing of conservatives), and a Republican president's chief advisor all addressed La Raza.

Therefore, there is no way that the Republican senators can use an association with La Raza to knock down the nomination of Ms. Sotomayor. Their own party at the top is associated with La Raza.

Well then she's been okayed by all the corporations who support La Raza.

Sure looks like both sides are asleep on this doesn't it OR? I guess most are to busy throwing spears at the other side to notice that both parties in D.C (who work for Wall Street and the corporations) support an un-democratic North American Union.

It's a goal that is being accomplished - one illegal Mexican immigrant at a time.

Isn't there a difference between speaking at one of the meetings and being a card carrying member?

I've said it before and I'll say it again- Mexico DOESN'T WANT the southwest back any more than France wants Mexico back.

They cannot even take care of their own people or land now, for goodness' sake!

    Much ado about nothing.

The international community (corporate sponsors) want a North American Union if that means it has to sponsor radical ideas to spread fear and division among Americans and Mexicans. Then so be it.

What does "La Raza" mean in plain english Mexdef?

I dunno but that sure sounds racist to me.

If Ms. Sotomayor had addressed La Raza and was not a member would that kill the argument that some on the right are using or would they be trying to make a big deal out of it?

Anyone who thinks that a GOP senator is going to bring up La Raza membership during the confirmation hearing is doing nothing but dreaming.

Face reality, Pastor Mitchell, your side is going to lose this battle regardless of how many lame, elementary school-level arguments your side puts forward. :)

What is lame and infantile is the defense of a racist like this nominee who has a political agenda on the bench. And winning does not make you right. But defending people like her shows your true colors.

I am not a "La Raza" member nor am I a supporter of Sotomayor- she is an obvious political bone thrown to the Hispanics. And if she indeed said the things that the WND quoted she should not be appointed. But all the wailing that we do on the BB about it won't change a thing.

I'm just making the point that to most Mexicans, the USA is the "Promised Land" and they don't want it to become what Mexico already is- so they have no desire to "take it back".

Some here are having a hard time coming to the realization that Obama won the election. I didn't vote for him, but he won none the less. I am hopeful that he will lead the country away from the failed policies of George W. Bush. I also think it is time to appoint a Latino on the Supreme Court, since our country is home to so many people with Hispanic backgrounds.

Never said you were and yes you are probably right. I was just trying to make the point that La Raza is a racist organization and the corporations that support organizations like this should be made to answer for their actions.

These corporate "sponsors" are using La Raza as a wedge to balkanize us and cause strife between Mexicans and Americans. Or in other words they are playing both sides against each other to get their "North American Union" up and running. There first has to be a problem before they can step in and "solve" it and they are not above causing the problem so that their solution (North American Union) can be realized.

And BTW Ken, politicians who speak at La Raza meetings aren't there to garner hispanic votes they are there to kiss up to the mega corporations who sponsor racist organizations like La Raza. Which doesn't say much for politicians from either side imho. If they're okay with the way corporations do business in this way then I say they can't be trusted to hold any office in the USA.

Good to see the old Ken back, breaking his word once again. After promising to stay out of political discussions, he is involved in one, and returning to his same old low level personal attacks rather than addressing issues.

Political discussions take place in the News forum as well as the Political forum, so avoiding the Politics forum doesn't mean one is avoiding political discussions. How people feel about who won the election is a strawman in this discussion about a racist nominee, racist by her own statements that are well documented and even caught on video tape. And by her recent ruling against the white firefighters.
