This may just be another example of the great orator working without one.

 

And people call Bush a moron. And Palin, as well.

We've elected a guy who will literally say anything.

 

If we are the largest Muslim nation in the world with a 1% Muslim population then that religion is one of the minor religions of the world.

 

And China is the largest Christian country in the world.

 

The "excellent Don Shurber" also posts an article titled "Feminists for rape."
He doesn't sound either excellent or very reliably truthful to me.

 

Do you have more accurate numbers ? Did you read "feminists for rape" ?

 

Strange that Obama would deny that the United States is a Christian country when ~85% of the people claim to be Christians but state that we are a Muslim country with only ~1% of the people professing Islam. Did he make a Freudian slip?

I'm no supporter of Obama, but I think it's clear from the context of his statement that he was trying to say that the US has one of the largest Muslim populations in the world. So I think it is unfair to say that he called America a Muslim country, in the sense that it is in any way dominated by Islam.
However, I just skimmed through that Wikipedia list and counted almost 40 countries with a higher Muslim population than the US, many of them having FAR more. So instead of falsely accusing Obama of calling us a Muslim country, we should focus on the colossal ignorance he showed with that statement. Any Republican who said something that demonstrably ridiculous would be painted by the Dems and the press as a complete idiot. And deservedly so.

As with everything else that Obama says - who knows what he is saying?

Not that we are one of the largest Muslim countries in the world but that we would be if we counted the number of Muslims in the U.S.?

What does that even mean?

 

Obama must have forgotten about the statement he made the last time he went to the Middle East when he stated that we are not a Christian nation. Where does he get these figures that we are now a Muslim nation?

Seems to me the opening title is a bit misleading and the text also tends to mislead. Here is what Obama said:

There is a difference in what seems to be said in the OP and what Obama really said. He did not say that American is Moslem. He did say we have a lot of Moslems in our country ... more than the total population of many Moslem countries. Of course there are countries that have many more; i.e. Indonesia for instance.

Here is a link to a listing of countries and the number of Moslems living in those countries. In some cases it is by region, i.e. Southern Europe. I did not do a count, but there are many that do not have as many Moslems living in them as are in the US. A quick scan shows there are more Moslems living in the US than in a majority of countries listed. So Obama is correct.

 

The op is without doubt correct. His words are clear. There is no other way to understand this.
