    The story is at http://www.bpnews.net/BPnews.asp?ID=30748

Posted on Jun 23, 2009 | by Mark Kelly LOUISVILLE, Ky. (BP)--If Southern Baptists are to be what God wants them to be, they desperately need to repent of the sins that clog their spiritual lives, Johnny Hunt told the Southern Baptist Pastors' Conference June 22.

"I am not a prophet or a prophet's son, but I may have to do until a prophet comes," Hunt said. "And here's what I want to say to the Southern Baptist Convention: There is a dire need for overwhelming repentance. I've never seen so many hard things said from one person to the next without any sense of grief."

Like a flowing stream that beavers dam up over time with fallen trees and debris, a Christian becomes blocked spiritually by sins both large and small, Hunt said. And in the same manner, the only way for living water to flow again is for spiritual dynamite to be applied.

Hunt confessed that he has at times allowed his own life to get dammed up by sins that he didn't take seriously.

"Almost unbeknownst to me, I let some tree fall across the artesian well of God's Spirit," Hunt said. "I hardly even notice.... God reminds me of it, but I just don't take serious His mandate to be clean. Then a little trash here and a little gossip there and a little sarcasm and a little jealousy and a little envy and before you know it, our lives are dammed up and the flow of God's Spirit stopped. You may be ministering, but God's life is not being ministered through you."

repentance is dire need in every church, no matter the denomination.
examples of churches across the world here on this board, support of abortion, homosexuality, God is not creator, parts of the bible are a myth, other parts simply aren't true, true repentance not necessary for church memebership, no need to ever be chaged so don't expect to see a change in a person once saved, the list could go on and on.
so repentance is needed in every church.

these are only my examples, I inteded it to be a view of churches today as a whole, not each person here who seems to fit the bill.

If I did not fit that description I should be questioning how much God's word is penetrating my heart.

2 Tim 3:16, 17, "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work."

Here in Louisiana the small SBC`s in the country are dying.I attend one and my feeling is the racism in some of its members needs dealing with.I do not think that God`s Spirit is dwelling in these hearts.I have with my own ears heard members call the black people the N word and also have heard the remarks that the day a N walks in the doors is the day they would walk out.

Also many of the members and Pastors are high degree Masons.I dont think a Christian has any business being involved with Masonry.Ed Decker has put his life on the line exposing their Luciferian doctrines.I came across a source of high authority in Masonry that was in an aold Antique store and in this book the man well respected by high degree masons says that Lucifer is a Masons light bearer. What blasphemy.I got the book to find this information that many Masons deny that are pastors and sbc members.I have no doubt what masonry is founded upon.

Yes satan is killing the SBC`s one by one.

In Jesus and may he bless you all.

    Steven.

I pray that God will bring revival and not judgment. If not revival then judgment is forth coming.

I pray that God's judgment be the final word. People who have hatred for God's Children and live wicked and evil lives don't deserve a revival unless they confess with their mouths, repent to God, and change their ways.

Bottom line is each individual will have to stand and account for him/herself -- not an association or a church brand (SBC). Each person who is living a Christ-like life should never fear judgment but look forward to everlasting life in Heaven. No one is perfect but we all can make decisions and choices to follow Him or to walk as Dead Men.

Such a blessing to know that another has stood and accounted and received in my stead. That the handwriting of ordinances that was against me has been blotted out, nailed to the cross, and there is nothing left for me to receive against the mass of offenses I have and will commit.

I pray that I may never be so proud as to compare anything I have done or may do to the life that Christ led or asked me to lead. I will be Christ-like only after I am conformed to his image and that hasn't happened and won't happen in this body of flesh. For in my flesh is no good thing. If I am counting on my ability to conform myself to his image, I surely must despair. If I think I have lived Christ-like there is much to fear.

I can certainly agree that no one, save one, who has ever walked this earth is perfect. I believe that any decisions or choices we make are selfish and self centered. Even those that appear the most selfless and noble. The best that we can do is still as filthy rags, a stench in the nostrils of a righteous God!

As for the OP. Yes we are in need of repentance. All mankind is in need of repentance. And when God grants repentance to the acknowledgment of the truth..... then we have repentance. I don't believe repentance is something we instigate or conjure up. It, like our salvation, our faith, and even our very next breath are all gifts of God. We can all, as Easu, seek carefully with tears, and find no place for repentance. It is not ours to have unless God grants it. I wish only that men would acknowledge God's right to do with his creation as he will accompanied by the understanding that he actually does with his creation as he will.

And, when did any of us deserve a revival? We have all sinned and a part from God's grace we all stand condemend. Revial does not come from me nor anyone else. It comes from God. He brings the sinner to repentance. And, I pray that by His moving, the church (universal) would repent.

I am reminded of the condition in 2 Chronicles 7:13, 14, "If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

We need to pray for Johny Hunt because I am sure that Satan will try to "stir the pot."

EVERYONE deserves a revival. Jesus associated with prostitutes, tax collectors, lepers, and all manner of sinners. The Pharisees said exactly what you posted. Why did He associate with sinners? The reason? To seek and to save that which was lost.

How did Jesus associate with these folks ? What did he say to them ? Does scripture give an indication that he approved of their lifestyle ? Show me, chapter & verse, Jesus "associating" with sinners.

Associating gives the indication that he approved of what they were doing. And, that couldn't be further from the truth.

I'd like to see where Jesus associated with unbelievers.

    Sure did.

And Christ was exceedingly hard on them for their judgmentalism and self rightiousness. Much harder on them then the sinners who knew they were broken.

Absolutely. He had His priorities correctly lined out, and He knew who had "ears to hear".

There truly is something everyone deserves. I'm not sure it is revival and thankfully what it is, we do not all receive.

All manner of sinners? How about Pharisees? Weren't they a manner of sinner? Is this one of those all doesn't really mean all here, where all really does mean all everywhere else?

This I can't bring myself into disagreement with.

To seek and to save lost sheep. Of which many were prostitutes, tax collectors, lepers, and all manner of sinners. And some, believe it or not, were even Pharisees!

according to scripture no one deserves anything, God owes no man, the only thing any man desderves is condemnation, eternity in hell. Nothing more.

As sinners, all men (and women) deserve only one thing - Eternal Damnation.
It is only through the grace of God that those of us who believe will avoid the fate we so richly deserve. If God grants a revival, once again, it is through His grace, not because we deserve it.
