According to an analysis of climate legislation performed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the cap-and-trade system favored by President Barack Obama and many congressional Democrats could potentially damage the U.S. manufacturing sector and force jobs to move overseas.

The policy, under certain scenarios, for example, “can cause domestic production … to shift abroad,” reads the EPA analysis, and result in greater greenhouse gas emissions in countries that do not have similar cap-and-trade rules.

Further, the EPA’s Apr. 20 preliminary analysis of the bill, sponsored by Reps. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) and Edward Markey (D-Mass.), shows that the plan would reduce U.S. manufacturing capacity 0.3 percent by 2020 and by nearly 1.5 percent by 2050.

The Obamanites know it,but just don't care. Their agenda is more important than the welfare of the nation.

Based on phony "science" the cap and tax bill is a perfect example. More are on the way.

Where are our resident Obama loveing global warmers to defend this nightmare legislation? I guess they are angry that when they want to sell their homes they will be required to up grade them to Obama's energy standards. And, from what I understand the upgrades requirements can be added to or taken away from at anytime. Plus this will be very costly to the homeowner. And you thought the real estate fall out was bad. The town I live in has less then 900 people. Yet the town is going to have to hire at least three inspectors to make sure that the rules from Big Brother are followed. And, who is going to pay their salaries? You and I are in fees and permits required to sell our homes and for them to do the inspections. This is going to hurt a lot of people. Hopefully the voting public will see how bad this is and raise such a stink that the idiots who wrote this legislation will be sent packing.

I noted last fall before the election that I believed "bo"s goal was to make the US a third world country. He is well on his way.

Which will mean many will not be able to sell their homes. Definitely will hurt the market.

    Ya'll keep misspelling cap-and-trade. You're leaving out an "r." :D

This bill will wreck our economy. But who cares about that? It's only those evil, gas-guzzling rich people that will suffer, right?

Bill, tell us how this bill will make the world a better place? Support it instead of making some asinine comment.

I suppose evidentiary reasons, logic, or constitutionality will enter into your reasoning...

    ...I thought not.

Been preaching this too OR, but too few are listening.

Anybody using a smattering of discernment could have seen the prognosis for this scenario, had they not been bamboozeled by his "charm & honey covered promises"! (Change - indeed! Somebody should have asked "What kind of change?" Too late now.)

Well, the Pied Piper is piping, and the children are blindly following!

I just wonder if they will wake up before or after they are led over the cliff like a herd of lemmings; or will they wake up at all????

Well, the opium wars and the sale of opium raised great amounts of money for England and helped to make England a world power but didn't do anything positive for China. In the same way, the US has sponsored little wars all over the world and stomped on little countries in order to make us a world power. Policies that were good for America were terrible for South and Central America.

If the ocean level rises millions of people in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, the Pacific Island nations will be in big trouble but it doesn't matter because they are all going to Hell, anyway . . . right? If all those people were dead then there will be less competition for the remaining oil, right?

I have not read the law (has anyone on this list) and don't know exactly how it will effect me. Does anyone on this list know how they will be effected?

But if it costs me a hundred bucks a year and there is a 10% chance it will slow the acidification of the ocean then it is worth the hundred bucks.

Change as in perpetual revolution. It's a Trotsky/Hegelian thing. Bush and the neocons were into the same kind of change too. They just had different cheerleaders to back them up that's about the only difference between Obama's change and Bush's change.

Both of them have and are using manufactured "crisis" to put the financial elites policies in place that are aimed at killing our republic and hurrying us over the cliff to one world government. They are bascially the right and left hand of the same power elite. Pick a side in this war on our republic and you've already lost because both sides are being manipulated by the same master.

I never ceased to be amazed how far off-topic you can get in just a sentence or two.

And, of course, you managed to throw in a cheap shot..."if you really cared about lost people, you would vote for this bill." Actually, if we care for lost people, we will do for them what Jesus said to do. But hey...I didn't mean to mess up your misuse of Scriptures. Carry on.

Actually, I have read up on the bill. A great deal. It will wreck our economy. Big, big time.

Oh...if you'll give me a million dollars, there's a 0.00000001% chance I can stop global warming, too. Come on...now we're just getting silly.

Apply basic science...the globalwarmingbots sure haven't.

"Acidification of the oceans???" Is this the earth-ending crisis of the week? I can't keep up. First it was the coming ice age, then it was the hole in the ozone, then it was global warming, then "climate chage"...now acidification? Good gracious...how are we gonna die next month, global constipation?

The $64 Trillion dollar question is this: How many folks are there in our country like Billwald
    • Folks who are gullible enough to believe manufactured data.
    • Folks who are willing to say to fascists, "Oh, sure, take my money...my family and I don't need it...and after all...you're gonna save the world..."
    • Folks who realize that when government throws wads of money at a "problem," they often create two more.
    • Folks who trust what is quite possibly the most corrupt and most stupid congress in our nation's history.
This bill will not cost you $100/year. Try much, much more. And remember basic economics...this will be a basic operating expense increase on all goods and services. Anyone who denies this would flunk the most basic economics course. Of course, since your concern is with the poor, maybe you should figure out how to help them afford basic costs with this horrible legislation. Yes...I know...taxpayers will "help" them. Does the term "exponential growth" mean anything to you? It will...the group of people having trouble making ends meet...that's what's gonna happen to them.

This bill will not help the environment. Keep in mind we're going to the term "climate change," because "global warming" is being debunked to fast to be a useful term anymore.

Fortunately, some people are waking up. I just hope it's enough to put a small modicum of common sense into the grey matter of these senators.

Barack Obama IMO has passed Bush II to take the lead in "stupid legislation proposed by a sitting president." I didn't think it was possible to get any dumber than Bush's bailout.

Just sitting back laughing at the gloom and doom, fear mongering from the right. Let y'all tell it, the world is going to end if cap and trade passes and no one or anything can be American that you don't approve of.

    Nice....

I'm sorry that you think several hundred dollars in extra expenses (at least) per American family is no big deal.

You do understand what happens when large amounts of cost get embedded into the cost of almost every good and service produced, right?

BTW...people have given specific reasons as to why they fear this bill. Many have given documentation. For you to ridicule them isn't becoming. At all. Show some class, eh?
