Man, is this a terrible piece of legislation.

    http://apnews.myway.com/article/20090715/D99EO8BO0.html

It's worse than bad legislation. It's horrific.

    just look at the carnage...

Yeah, I'm sure none of the costs will trickle down to us.

Madam Speaker, I move that we strike the words "land of the free" from our national anthem. Thanks.

Wow. So in one swoop, we kill the job market, punish acheivement, and get rid of "evil rich people." What a winning plan! *sigh*

Our "leadership" of this country is beyond sickening.

rbell, consider this. Currently in "the land of the free", if you exercise your freedom to decline health insurance, and you get hit by a car, do you know who pays for your treatment? That's right...the rest of us.

If your lucky and 1.) he or she is insured, and 2.) they have sufficient coverage and 3.) it isn't a hit & run and 4.) you were not at fault.

Also, what if you trip off a balcony? What if you are victim of a mugging?

This is a bad bill. Like using chemotherapy on a razor cut. I trust the government to run our health care like I trust them to do anything else. IOW- I DON'T!

This whole thing smacks of "Ve haff vays uff maching yew ovey."

    GAG!!!

Well then, why are you not advocating national auto insurance, building insurance, etc.

Why only a national health care insurance?

What if a 100 year flood hits my house? We need national flood insurance.

What if a meteor strikes my boat? We need national meteor insurance.

What if my dog runs away? We need national dog running away insurance.

    Why only national health care?

Do you have no feelings for the suffering of others?

Then what's the point? We already have communist health care if that's true.

1.) It's inefficient and costly 2.) Preventive care is cheaper than emergency care.

Not everyone has a flood, a meteor, etc. EVERYONE gets sick. No exceptions. A healthy population is also good for the economy. You are tossing out red herrings like there is no tomorrow. Dog running away insurance! Now that one DID make me chuckle.

The government has been unable to run anything. And every time there are problems there only solution is more money is needed. Government and liberals especially cannot ever find solutions that do not include taxing the American people beyond reason. Pelosi and company couldn't over see two mice fighting in a potato sack.

Communist healthcare is inefficient and costly? or healthcare generally?

Is that proposing that the big daddy cover everyone and require everyone to have an annual or semi-annual phyical, with or against their will? "Whatever government funds, it regulates" is often said. And this particular bill-- forcing Christian Scientists to have coverage or be fined significantly; forcing Jehovah's Witnesses to have blood transfusions (only their kids are forced to have them now),.....

And you think the government is going to make it less costly? Talk about a chuckle. Truth is I doubt you are actually concerned about the cost you just want the government running it regardless of the costs so that the rich are less rich.

Tripple that 1.5 trillion and you might come a little closer to the true cost.

I went to see my doctor yesterday. (for bronchitus) I asked him what he thought about the healthcare proposals.

He made it clear he would retire immediately if it passed. He's a GP (or what would be known as a primary care physician and already in short supply) in his early fifties and sees a lot of patients.

Rationing will be necessary immediately with thousands of doctors ceasing to practise medicine, even without bureaucrats deciding whether or not you are worth the cost of knee replacement.

It's a bad bill. It is unAmerican and will destroy the best medical system in the world, just as is intended.

I know what you're trying to say. .......not always the case: else there'rd be no bankrupcy due to medical debt. But, guess what....... many of those who go bankrupt due to medical costs already had what is considered to be 'good health insurance coverage.

Most of those medical bankruptcies by people who have medical insurance are the result of losing a job or being unable to work due to illness - not due to unpaid medical bills per se.

What is the proposed national insurance bill going to do to change that?

    Nothing.

And that's because government is involved in the health care industry in the first place.

MP, you're disingenuous. I think you either work or in some other way live off the government. Either that, or you're practically dirt poor and merely envy those who have more than you and want some legal justification to steal it from them instead of practicing the Christian virtue of contentedness.

It is about time the U.S. did something to provide health care to all it's citizens. This bill marks a great day in the U.S.A.!

You know, MP, regardless of what the cynical, right-winger's think, national health care is one of our greatest needs.

Yep, it's a great day when the government is going to steal from her own citizens to provide for the health care of everyone. Personally, I don't want nor need anymore of the government's intervention into my life. Uncle, get your hand out of my cookie jar. Of course Robert, if you would like to hand over your cookie jar to the great government then that's fine. But, don't expect me or anyone else to do the same.

If you want communism, there are a lot of places you could have left for decades ago. Why didn't you? [or did you?]
