Please do not feel that way. I think our service men and women should get far more benefits than they do.

Every American citizen has the right to their opinion if we want to continue to call ourselves the land of democracy and of the free.

 

Salty, your faithful service is commendable.
But you are free to express your opinion..... free by God.....
and your citizenship gives you rights to vote your opinion and to 'count' because, whatever the outcomes... you're 'invested'.

As far as church goes..... I've been there and done that too..... but now conclude that everything we do in or related to the church where we attend and which recognizes our membership is an 'investment'. Not being able to tithe doesn't mean one is not contributing in one way or another. It is very possible that the very situation of being out of work puts you in a better position to be more sensitive to areas of waste, extravagance, or incaution, or awareness of opportunity and exercise of faith which others might think but are afraid to voice. It is not as much how you vote, agree or opposed (as long as you're obediant to God) as it is how you continue your support and keep a good attitude no matter the outcome.

BTW, the VA healthcare system (government run) needs an overhaul before they start meddling in healthcare for the rest of us! It is a crying SHAME that some VA hospitals are in horrible shape and the mockery of medical care provided to our veterans!

If the government can't get it right for our vets (including sterility to keep people from being exposed to hepatitis and HIV), if the government has poor quality healthcare for our veterans who deserve the finest healthcare in the world, why does anyone think the government will get it right for the millions of the rest of us?

I get a VA disability check, and use the VA for basic care, and think you have every right to express you opinion about the people getting free government care that will not work in their 20s, 30s, and 40s. Most are so zonked out on drugs they have no idea what they are doing.

I do work a full time job, and the VA actually sends the bills to my insurance company, which I have no problem with them doing.

Yes, you have every right to talk about the health care debate. As far as I am concerned, you have every right to express your opinion about any national issue, as you helped give others the freedom to rattle endlessly on this board that never lifted one finger to serve this nation. You are at the top of the list in my book.

Think of it this way. Look at the endless posts that say we should do this or that in another country, or how patriotic they are. Most are clueless, and the closest they ever got to patriotism was flying a flag on their car or watching fireworks.

My own opinion is that something needs to be done with the greed, waste, fraud, and abuse of insurance companies, drug companies, lawyers that make a living off malpractice, and those who defraud Medicare/aid with tests that are not necessary. It must be done in a way that keeps the federal government out of calling the shots. We do not need added problems.

 

HUGE distinction: you have earned your medical care. That cannot be stressed enough.
