Does your church have a mission statement?

If not, any particular reason you don't?

If so, do you think it is important?

    How long should they be?

    Any other thoughts?

Yes we have a mission statement and I believe they are important.

A mission statement should be a sentence that captures the heart of your Vision. A church's Vision should be limited to a paragraph.

Both the Vision and Mission Statement should be publicized to motivate the people to accomplish the Vision. Keep it before them, print it in the bulletin and in the welcome packet, if you have an overhead, incorporate it into the presentation.

    Yes

    Absolutely!

Long enough but not too long. Ideally they should be concise statements that can be memorized and repeated as a unified congregation.

    I prefer under 200 characters...that's not words, that's characters...

Mission statements are absolutely important to helping any organization identify and internalize core values and direction. Without it the organization will often flounder and wander through life. I highly recommend them!
