Have any of you read any of Gail's new book "Hazardous Materials"?
I have seen some pretty interesting reviews but I will not be reading the book.
She has been shown to be such a liar in the past she is beyond the point of credibility with honestly thinking people.

I did not know she had a new book out. Must need some more money from the gullible.

This new book is even worse than her first one. I think she bashes about everyone in Hazardous Materials.

I have a copy of it and have read most of it.

Here are three examples of some of her outrageous claims or statements. Gail Riplinger contended that “the resident evil and heresy in the New King James Version (NKJV) . . . lies in their editor’s use of lexicons, all of which are corrupt” (Hazardous Materials, p. 29). Riplinger claimed that “all lexicons and Bible study ‘helps’ should be buried to prevent the spread of their deadly hazards” (p. 70). Riplinger even asserted that “the words seen today in the NKJV . . . were spawned in a cesspool of Satanic unbelief” (Ibid., p. 14).

A consistent application of Riplinger’s accusation that all lexicons “are corrupt” would seem to apply to the Hebrew and Greek lexicons used by the KJV translators. It is known that the Hebrew-Latin lexicons and Greek-Latin lexicons available to and used by the KJV translators sometimes or even often had Latin definitions for Hebrew words or for Greek words that were borrowed from the Latin Vulgate of Jerome, which would be classified a corrupt translation according to KJV-only reasoning. Other Latin definitions in those Hebrew-Latin and Greek-Latin lexicons would have likely come from commentaries by unsaved Jews and from commentaries by the Roman Catholic church fathers. Riplinger’s seeming use of the ad hominem fallacy to attempt to smear all lexicons and modern translations is misleading and wrong, and a consistent application of her faulty reasoning would even condemn the lexicons and original language texts used by the early English translators and the KJV translators.

I think she does all right on the lecture circuit. Or maybe she and Ruckman are peddling ex-spouses in their own branch of "E-Harmony".

Gail Riplinger claimed: "The first Greek-English lexicon and the one from which all subsequent lexicons take their 'definitions' is the Liddell-Scott Greek-English Lexicon of 1843. It began merely as a translation of the Greek-German Lexicon of Passow" (Hazardous Materials, 80).

Gail Riplinger asserted: "All Bible study dictionaries are based in great part on the definitions in the first Greek-English lexicon by Henry Liddell and Robert Scott, although this is not expressly written on most of them. The Liddell-Scott Greek-English Lexicon is the whorish MOTHER of all harlot lexicons" (p. 83).

Gail Riplinger wrote: "In fact all Greek lexicography comes first through German Lexicons, the cesspool of Higher and Lower Biblical Ciriticsm" (p. 215). [Bold added by this poster]

It seems that Riplinger skipped over the Greek and English Lexicon of John Jones [printed in London in 1823] and the Greek-English Lexicon of John Pickering and Daniel Oliver [printed in Boston in 1826]. [source: Kiddle, The Cyclopaedia of Education, Third Edition, p. 224). This 1826 Greek-English Lexicon can be found on line at googlebooks under the title Greek Lexicon of Schrevelius Translated into English with many additions. Later editions of Pickering's Greek-English Lexicons are also available online at the same site.

John Weisse wrote: "John Pickering wrote the first Greek Dictionary with English intepretations, in the United States. It was ready for the press in 1814; but as no publisher could be found til 1826, Jones' Greek and English Lexicon was issued three years sooner in England" (Origin, Progress and Destiny of the English Language, p. 320).

Pickering's Greek-English Lexicon was based on the Greek-Latin dictionary of Cornelius Schrevelius (1615-1667). Schrevelius's Greek-Latin Lexicon is said to have been extracted from that of Scapula. In 1579, Scapula published an abridged [perhaps pirated] edition of Henry Stephen's 1572 Greek-Latin Thesaurus or Lexicon. The KJV translators made use of or consulted Stephen's Greek-Latin Lexicon.

Dunbar's Greek and English Lexicon [Edinburg, 1843] is said to have been "chiefly a reprint of the second edition of Pickering's work."

In her new book, Gail Riplinger wrote: "Everyone has waited for the sequel to New Age Bible Versions, the international bestselling book that has sold nearly a quarter of a million copies" (Hazardous Materials, p. 20).

Riplinger added: "That book brought the demand for nearly a million copies of other helpful tools by this author, such as videos, tracts, and the books, Which Bible is God's Word?, The Language of the King James Bible, and In Awe of Thy Word" (p. 20).

Concerning her new book, Riplinger asserted or boasted: “This book will provoke grave silence, as none can answer it, except with trite and tiny vagaries” (Hazardous Materials, p. 1192). Riplinger contended concerning herself and her book: “Assuming, ‘the author’ does not know or understand ‘something’ will only be possible if the entire book is not read” (p. 40).

Unfortunately, I would suggest that anything offered and (usually) (mis)handled by Dr. Gail A. Riplinger likely qualifies as Hazardous Material. :tear:

This may sound too strong, but I think people like G.R. and Peter Ruckman are enemies of the word of God. I love the KJV and believe that God's hand was without question involved in the translation of the English Bible. Yet the whackos like the 2 mentioned turn people away from a God given translation because of their lies and general whacko-ness. It's a shame and offers yet another weapon for the unbelieving world to bash Christianity.

I agree with the exception of the underlined part of your statement. Why? Simply because I do not believe that God was any more involved with the translation of the KJV than He was with the RVR (Spanish), the Septuagint, the Japanese Bible, etc. To make the claim that God has placed a special premium on the translation or translators of the KJV makes God a respecter of persons or languages.

I never said that God didn't work through other translations. The subject is about G.R. and the KJV. God did bless the English translations as is clear by the many men that literally gave their lives to give it to us. I never implied that God didn't bless RVR or Japanese. The subject of the thread is the KJV. OK?

Actually, the subject of the thread is "Hazardous Materials" not the KJV.

And the poison and complete falsehoods, quarter-truths and half-truths as usually disseminated by Dr. Gail A. Riplinger certainly fit that characterization, IMO.

    Unfortunately.
