So if they broke it, then they should fix it.

They have experience from when they broke it so they know what not to do when they fix it.

It sounds like LeBuick is calling for deregulation of the health care industry.

They can't fics what they can't read

    Does this have a link?

Maybe if they had two days and two lawyers they could get these guys (the two lawyers) to spend the two days researching their own legislation???

    bro. Dallas Eaton

Perhaps this should be sent to the fishy email link???

Frogman, the transcript for the hearings was published by the GPO in 1972 and runs 3021 pages. I found the Kennedy quote cited in a 2001 article on HMOs found here. You may be able to locate a hard copy at a local college library. You can find where here.

Two lawyers couldn't decide on what to have for lunch in two days....

Make sure you turn in both myself and Bro. Curtis. I don't want to be in the gulag alone.

Thanks for the links. If I turned in anything it would be facts of the fishy nature of the failure of government who continually wants more control over the lives of ppl.:tear::1_grouphug:

I mean perhaps we should send things to this email collective that shows the blatant disregard for the Constitutional Standard we have and the disrespect for Constitutional liberties we the people possess.

For a man supposedly like Lincoln, Lincoln's rhetoric (a govt. for the people, by the people, of the people), if there is any truth in Lincoln's belief of that statement, is a far cry from I am the President...I wish these people would just stop talking and let me fix the mess they have made (paraphrased poorly).

I fear we have kept our heads in the sand too long.

    A parallel...

My four-year old should be allowed to take apart the engine in my car. She will have had experience from when she disassembled it, so she'll know what not to do when putting it together.

    Hmmmmmmmmmm....

Well...probably not a good parallel. Mine makes more sense.

I go further than that, I am in favor of a single payer system. I think what's being proposed is falling short of what is needed.

Something many are confused about in the polls, everyone assumes the number against Obama proposal is FOR maintaining the status quo when in fact there are people like me who think the president is too far to the right of the change that is really needed.

I don't want to deregulate the thieves running the health insurance industry, I say get rid of the bums all together.

If you paid the dealership to fix that same car and got it back running worse or the same as you took it, wouldn't you take it back and demand they fix it? sometimes it's not about experience, making someone fix what they broke is just plain common sense.

Tommy Douglas didn't repair medicare in Canada. He made it available to all. Succeeding governments have made the mess and private enterprise which is called insurance..It is insurance that is controlling US health care. One man in Detroit was driven to 4 hospitals trying to find one hospital to accept his insurance,,,,,he died at the 4th hospital!

    Cheers,

    Jim

Then you should be demanding that the Bush administration should be returned to power until they fix everything that you think that they did wrong. :tongue3:

And Michelle Obama was paid $300,000 in her position at a hospital to design the program of shipping people who did not have insurance off to the local free clinics.

We all have anecdotes that we can tell.

Do you have a source - or is this simply your guess?

It's cute that you are coming up with this now that the poll numbers have turned against the dems.

For one I wouldn't wait 38 years. Next I would question the dealership's ability to resolve the issue. I could call the Better Business Bureau and ask for reports on previous performance. I would talk with others who had experience with the dealership. What would you do if you found there was a consistent and persistent track record of poor performance from the dealership? There reaches a point where the consumer realizes the dealership has demonstrated they are unable and incapable of resolving the problem - or, as you said, made it worse.

Name one government program that has performed as promised. I bet you a coffee and a donut I can cite at least five local projects from each catagory of local, state and federal government that have suffered from cost overruns, poor planning, overwhelming administration and unanticipated consequences. Sen. Kennedy said almost 40 years ago that HMOs were the cure for our health care woes. I believe we have enough evidence to see he (and Nixon) were wrong.

I don't deny our current system is broken. My greatest concern is the apparent need for haste in resolving it! Pres. Obama said we needed to act before August - and now before year's end. Why? Discussions on national health care have been on and off the table since Teddy Roosevelt.

    um, No.

If there is a level of incompetence that makes more disasters likely, then you don't let them near you. Your reasoning is, when it comes to healthcare, scary.

Would you go back to a hospital that, let's say, did an amputation rather than an appendectomy? Not if you have a working brain stem. You'd find a competent outlet.

Government-run healthcare is substandard. Why let them have another shot?

The more I think about your reasoning, the sillier it gets.

Obama Care will not help the poor, or middle class.

    http://www.investors.com/NewsAndAnalysis/Article.aspx?id=502310
    ....
Most Americans want consumer freedom. They want to be able to shop for health care value — for the best care, at the best prices. They'd like to have a lot more freedom to shop for such value than they currently have.
That's why Democrats are couching their proposed expansion of government-run health care in the language of competition and choice.
Listen to the president as he pitches the centerpiece of that agenda — a "public option," a form of Medicare for all. He says it's merely a way to give Americans another choice: People can buy private health insurance, just like now, or they can instead choose the government option.
But millions of middle-class Americans who are currently happy with their employer-provided insurance would soon find that the choice isn't theirs to make.
The government would make it cheaper for employers to contribute to the government-run option than to continue providing private insurance. Millions of employers would do the math and pick the government option. The "public option" would indeed provide a choice — for millions of employers, against the wishes of millions of employees.....
