The CBO figures the public option is vital for successful reform. Without the public option, "the government would have to save money by cutting subsidies to the point that people would be unable to afford the coverage that they're required to buy."

IOW, there is no reform without a public option.

I figured at least one of you "fiscal conservatives" who was so concerned about generational theft would be all over trying to save $150 Billion. And we must trust the CBO since that $1.6 Trillion price tab is used like TP.

This outrageous republicans aren't interested in saving money. All they want to do is see President Obama defeated.

Yes, it is very important that we spend 1.6 Trillion in order to save 150 Billion.

Typical Marxist mathematics. Rather than costing $1.6 trillion the Insurance Reform bill as Obama now calls it would only cost, let's see; $1,600,000,000,000 less $150,000,000,000 means that the bill would only cost $1,450,000,000,000. Whopee! That sounds great! Sign me up! Marxist medicine is great. All we need now are gulugs [or whatever] on the North Slope!

Sure..I'd love to save $150 billion. Let's cut out welfare spending, spending on education, all arts and humanities spending, the irs (by going to a fair tax), etc and we could save more than that!

I agree. The Federal Government has no business, or Constitutional authority, for any of that plus a lot more.

Well, I happen to be an expert on me.

    And I'm not a Republican.

Sorry if that either (a) bursts your bubble; or (b) is too hard for you to comprehend.

I see. Well, I guess that makes sense. It would be a shame to mess up so many of your posts with facts.

But you will save $150 Billion.

Do you use coupons? I do ad think they are great. It doesn't mean I won't have to spend to save, it says I will save while spending. The part you guys won't acknowledge is we will spend this money either way. We can invest in these savings or we can let the people show up in the emergency room near death and treat them then.

    LeBuick, you are wrong.

The bill will cost a TRILLION DOLLARS after any mythical savings.

"The analysis estimated the net impact of a bill sponsored by Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) at $1.04 trillion over the decade spanning 2010 to 2019."

    http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/cbo-healthcare-bill-exceeds-1-trillion-2009-06-15.html

BTW - how much are you personally willing to pay to enroll in this public option?

HR3200 has been paid for all but $250 Billion. It is not a final bill so we don't know what other savings they can find. I'm in favor of equalizing the tax deductions between the rich and middle class.

The Kennedy bill is not one being proposed.

I don't plan to pick the public option. I am covered through my wifes job but we can save a ton of money by insuring the poor instead of waiting for them to show up in the emergency room.

You know that the public option will not be free don't you?

If the poor can't afford the premiums for medical insurance currently where will they get the money to pay for the public option?
