What's your point? Yes, the US is a Republic rather than a democracy because issues are decided by representatives of the people rather than a direct plebiscite.

When our representative stopped listening to the will of the people and began to accomplish their own agendas.

That's when it stopped being an effective republic but it's still a republic.

When Adam got kicked out of the Garden? Exactly when didn't our representatives have a sin nature?

I got one: Since a "republican" is one who (allegedly) supports a "republic", & since the Republican Party has gone off course, shouldn't the party change their name to something else other than Republican? Just a thought. It would make sense.

    The definitions are very accurate.

This may be a better description of what our government has become:

    oligarchy [ol-lee-gark-ee]
    Noun
    pl -chies
    1. government by a small group of people
    2. a state governed this way
    3. a small group of people governing such a state [Greek oligos few + arkhein to rule]
    oligarchic
    oligarchical adj

    Just a thought.

That sounds about right especially considering how Congress & the Senate doesn't seem to properly represent us. They only seem to be looking out for themselves & promoting their own agendas.

Question: Then why are the majority of the people on this list so unhappy if the US is a democracy and democracy is so wonderful?

    Isn't Russia also a Democracy?

Democracy and Republic is a matter of semantics. The foundation and principles of each are identical.

What is wrong with Russia? Millions of Russians love their country.

    Its more than semantics!
Democracy is a system where each man is able to have a direct vote on each individual issue. Actually some New England Towns still do that once a year.

OK, we have a representative democracy. We elect people to represent us.

Still, why are people on this list so unhappy with the people you elected to represent you?
