I just wanted to get an opinion of what people thought about dating websites like Eharmony, Match.com, or Chemistry.com.

I haven't been as active on the Baptist Board as much as I used to because I have been using Eharmony quite a bit. Through Eharmony I have been chatting with other women. I have found one that we have been chatting back & forth & seem to be on the same page on a lot of different things. She's an EMT, 27 years old, & her family owns an ambulance business. She seems to be interested in a lot of the same things that I like. We have been communicating outside of Eharmony for about a month. Our first date will be on Labor Day weekend in Birmingham. She lives about 5 to 6 hours away from where I live. I figured meeting in Birmingham would be better than me driving where she lives or her driving where I live the first time around.

When I talk to her, I feel like I'm 16 all over again. I can't stop thinking about meeting her. I haven't met her yet & I'm already head over heels for her. I'll normally call her every Friday night. Last time we must have spoken for about 2 & 1/2 hours. One minute it was 6:00PM & the next it was 8:30PM. I can't get over how easy she is to talk to. Most of the time, I have had to work at keep the conversation going, but with her, I don't have to. I'm hoping & praying that she's the one that God wants me to be with.

I have NUMEROUS friends who met and married through E-harmony and it's worked out great. They were all solid believers and their marriages are now a few years old and doing really well. I'd say to go for it! Keep all of your normal requirements/cautions going just as you would with any other date but it can absolutely work out for you. Praying that it all goes well and that God might have just set you up with someone special!

And definitely let us know how it goes! Inquiring minds want to know and all that. LOL!

We have a friend who is in his forties and has never been married. He wants a wife but he's quiet and shy and lives 5,000 miles away from most American women (he's a missionary). I thought about recommending something like what you are doing, but because I don't know anything about such things, I've never said anything.

I am not allowed to sign up for E-harmony.Com-

My wife put her foot down on that

Seriously, I think it can be a good way to meet people. Us guys tend to at first just see the physical aspect, rather it is important that our values, interests, spiritual life and ect are similar

ps, btw, my wife is very attractive - so on that - I definitely got the better deal

Spinach: Here is a side story for you. A Baptist pastor in London, England asked a woman to marry him. She didn't and went to the mission field. They both remained single. When she retired from the mission field and he retired from ministry, they were married. You might say that was a long engagement!

    Cheers,

    Jim

Bigbossman, I met my wife on E-Harmony in 2003 and we married in 2005. Now we have two sons; 3 years old and 18 months. We know several couples who met through this service also. It was a great thing for my wife and me. I wish you well.

Considering that the majority of my friends are those I have made online, I would have no problem with a legit service like eHarmony... especially in comparison to most of the other "dating" sites (should be "mating" sites from what I have seen of many of them).

I met my wife in high school, but i would use eHarmony if I were single and intersted. It would be much beter than the shot in the dark of finding someone on a blind date.

Uh, I found my spouse right here on the Baptist Board. hehehe

I haven't known too many people who used e-Harmony, but I really see no problem with such. Just be careful...there's some skeery people out there!

I've been to four weddings of people who met online: two from eharmony, and two from yahoo personals.

Yes. As a matter of fact, we are going to meet up this weekend. I'm so excited about it. I can hardly wait.

The day before is going to be the hardest. Not so much because I will be nervous, but because I won't be able to sleep. I'll be staring up at the ceiling rather than staring at the back of my eyelids.

:D You make me smile because I remember my dating years. Have a wonderful time and we need a complete run-down of the date when you get back!

What I enjoy is feeling like I'm a teenager all over again.

I'll be sure to let everyone know how things went.
