Do not be like Esau that gave up his birthright for a meal nor the prodigal son that sold his inheritance for wild living. Just as Esau wept bitterly for it, so will the prodigal son be found weeping and gnashing of teeth. For something that is temporary in light of eternity, you will wished you had gone to Jesus for help in living as His in that reconciled relationship with God made possible by the blood of Jesus Christ. No greater friend will you have than Him.

Galatians 5:13For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. 14For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 15But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. 16This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

2 Timothy 2:19Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 20But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 21If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. 22Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. 24And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

So anyone that is "struggling with sin" or has given up trying to overcome it: know Who you are to go to. The power of God in salvation is the same power of God in living this christian life.. by faith in the Son of God.

1 John 3: 8He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Galatians 2: 20I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 21I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

In other words, you can't live the christian life by the flesh in keeping a promise to never to sin again: if we could do that, Jesus would not have bothered to come. But by faith in the Son of God, we get to know Him as we trust Him at His Word like a child would.. to do it.

John 1:12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Hebrews 4: 12For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. 14Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

When the Lord, Your Good Shepherd, reveals to you what is sowing to your flesh as in what is causing you to sin, He will help you put it away; whethor it be television, movies, music, videogames, or the company you keep.

1 Corinthians 6:12All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

1 Corinthians 10:23All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

1 Corinthians 10:12Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. 13There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Hebrews 2: 18For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

Philippians 3:14I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:13I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

John 6: 28Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

Hebrews 12: 1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. 4Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

Philippians 1:6Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: .... 9And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; 10That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ. 11Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

1 John 3: 3And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

Jude 1:24Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

So trust Jesus Christ to be Your Good Shepherd as well as Your Saviour.:jesus:

Many of us have been the prodigal at least once or twice. I certainly have. It's comforting to know our Father is not only willing to take us back, but runs out to meet us when we approach him.

    So have I.

But this danger lurks well over any believer that procrastinate coming to the Lord while living in sin.

2 Peter 2:18For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. 19While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. 20For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

Nevertheless, for all those that seek deliverance as we have, and as we still trust Him to keep us from falling.... know this:

1 John 1: 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Romans 6: 13Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. 14For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

John 16:33These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

1 John 5:4For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 5Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

I bear testimony that whomever calls on Him, no matter what you have done, He is far more willing to help you abide in Him after having bought you with a price and having sealed you as His so you can resume that reconciled relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ. No greater love than he who lays his life down for his friends, and Jesus intends to bring us Home.

I'm sure Johnv will testify of the same thing.

I do indeed. What is of most comfort is that, whether you're a life-long believer or a deathbead convert, your destination is the same. Jesus turns away no one.

It is interesting to note that when the prodigal son left, he had shoes on his feet, a robe on his back, a ring on his finger, and the inheritance he demanded of his father. In the distant land, he lost it all, the robe, the ring, the shoes, and the inheritance. When he returned, the Father gave him shoes, a robe, and a ring; but the inheritance was lost forever, it was the one thing that once lost he could not regain, it was lost forever.

Thus as a vessel unto dishonour in God's House.:tonofbricks:

Of such a loss in being left behind when judgment falls on the House of God first, ( 1 Peter 4:17 ) when there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, God will have to perform a miracle to get them past their loss by wiping the tears from their eyes Himself for all those coming out of the great tribulation.

So while the doors are still open for the Marriage Supper, let all those that name the name of Christ depart from iniquity with His help so that they may be a vessel unto honour in God's House: the elect.
