Obama is “quite comfortable” with the prospect of being a one-term president

Great to have a President more interested in getting the job done than running for re-election from day one.

 

I think he had to have this view coming in because of the critical situations left over from the previous administration.

 

If he makes decisions that cause him to not get re-elected, shouldn't that be telling us that his decisions are wrong? If he was making great decisions and improving the lives of Americans, he wouldn't have a problem getting re-elected.

 

After destroying the nation as we have known it, why would he want to stick around?

 

He is destroying this nation, step by step. As far as not getting re-elected, if the Republicans do not get their act together, govern as they did decades ago by conservative principles, and someone emerges as a leader, they do not have a chance. Maybe its time for a third and fourth choice.

 

My but this is a quick turn around for the supporters of "the one".

It was not too long ago that they were talking about a third term for "the one".

How is he doing with turning back the levels of the seas anyway? After all he announced progress with that before even being sworn in.

 

Interesting when Bush said this, and then showed it by his decisions that weren't driven by polls, he was attacked.

Unfortunately, he has added to them. He faced a huge budget and economic problem and has made it worse. Violence in Afghanistan is increasing. Soldiers are dying there faster than at any time during the Bush years, I believe. And he is totally disconnected from reality about anything.

I doubt he has this view at all. I don't think he is bright enough to see what he is doing.

 

Bush destroyed the nation. Obama is trying to patch it back up.

 

When Fred Thompson said he'd only want one term and his life would not be destroyed if he weren't elected President, he was derided by the left on this board. I'm sure these folks praise Obama now for feeling a similar way.

I digress. I applaud Obama's sentiment if he means it. Re-election should not be the highest goal of any elected official. Should he choose not to run again, Hillary is waiting in the wings. It would make things hard on the GOP not to have Obama to run against should he decide not to do that. But you know he'll run again. He's just risking not being elected. And with no one seriously stepping up in the GOP, it's not a huge risk. His biggest risk might be a Dem primary challenge, unless someone from the GOP gets it together.

 

Good thing.

 

What a horrible failure both were. Obama's attempt to "patch it back up" is not convincing to anyone but the most naive. It is actually quite laughable that some think this is an attempt to "patch it up." It just shows that what many said before the election was dead on: Obama is simply not up to the job. He doesn't have the intellectual capability, the experience, and he has not surrounded himself with capable people. His administration is so far a "comedy of errors," except the real Comedy of Errors was actually quite funny. This is tragic.

 

It should be crystal clear to the American people by now (since 1989) that the solution to bad Republican administrations is not to elect Democrats, and the solution to bad Democratic adminstrations is not to elect Republicans. It is just an endless downward cycle of liberalism.

But for some reason we keep electing career politicians. R or D, it doesn't matter. The people will still be stuck with what we don't want. In other woeds, I agree with you.

This is exactly what it comes down to. It is not about the wild attacks on the man that have had such a huge part in this debate, it is about the fact that this guy just doesn't know what he is doing. It is a puppet on a string for the Chicago machine that doesn't know what to do now that it has what it has wanted for 100 years - their man in the White House. You would think with 100 years of waiting they would have been ready for this day.

I can almost feel sorry for the guy. You can see it in his body language and his his eyes, he is like a poor little lost puppy who has been thrown into a greyhound race wandering around the track and getting trampled on.
