Rep. Lynn Jenkins Calls for 'Great White Hope' to Thwart Obama, Democrats

Yep Crabby, those evil, racist Republicans are at it again. And, yet I bet you would have voted for Senator Byrd. Now there's a true racist politician. He changed his message with the times just like George Wallace did. I bet you would have voted for that piece of work too.

 

Obama was elected because he is black. He is supported because he is black. Any criticism of him is quickly dismissed as racism. Socialist is now the new N-word.

Jenkins is absolutely right.

 

I love how CTB will completely ignore legitimate, obvious, and well-thought out reasons that Obama is not good for the country.

Instead of dialoging on those, he finds some obscure stupid comment, and then pulls his high-and-mighty act.

He is completely intellectually dishonest, and I think he knows it.

 

While I disagree with most everything CTB says, Rep Jenkins was stupid in her choice of words.

Byrd and Wallace were both racists. The change was the right thing for both of them to do. But to paint all Republicans with this brush is like painting all Democrats as if they were all like Rep. Maxine Waters.

 

But, according to Crabby's logic all dem's are like the moon bat Maxine Waters.

With this, I am out of this... but if you had bothered to read my first post, you'll find that I didn't defend it at all.

 

The phrase "great white hope" is obviously a pop culture reference. There's no need to get worked up over it. I'd feel the same way if a democrat had said it in regards to an office filled by a black republican, though I suspect some would not.

 

Or did she White wash herself!!!!?? Hmmmmm??? ROFL!!

 

Has anyone stopped to think that the remarks of Rep.Jenkins regarding "a great white hope" were metaphorical rather than literal; otherwise you may be accusing the Bible and its Author of being racist:

Psalms 51:7. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

Lamentations 4:7. Her Nazarites were purer than snow, they were whiter than milk, they were more ruddy in body than rubies, their polishing was of sapphire:

"The Great White Hope" was a fictional play which the writer is quoted as saying was about a man pitted against society - not racism.

I do find it ironic that the complaint against the use of the phrase would be coming from Crabby who has insensitively used expressions such as "banana repbulic" on this board.

 

Guys, all she's saying is that the Republican candidate needs to be one who is immune to "racist" cavils of the left, and it was said in the manner proportionate to the race cards they play. It's time someone stopped pussy-footing around these Sharptonesque antogonists and met them head on.

 

Yes, I agree with that analysis.

The problem is there are many who reflexively see racism where it does not exist - like the OP.

 

If you did a bit more study, you would know this came from a racist mantra used by the media early in the 20th Century. A black boxer, Jack Johnson, was the boxing champion, and the media wanted to prove that he was inferior by getting a white boxer who could beat him...the Great White Hope. Your take on this is wrong.
