Former Vice President Dick Cheney is accusing President Obama of breaking his promise not to prosecute CIA agents for acts committed in the prior administration. Does he have a point?*

In an exclusive interview with Chris Wallace on "FOX News Sunday" this weekend former Vice President Dick Cheney accused President Obama of breaking his promise to CIA agents not to prosecute them for acts committed in the prior administration.*

"We had the president of the United States, President Obama, tell us a few months ago there wouldn't be any investigation like this, that there would not be any look back at CIA personnel who were carrying out the policies of the prior administration," Cheney said. "Now they get a little heat from the left wing of the Democratic Party, and they're reversing course on that."

In January, just days before he took office, Obama assured CIA agents they need not worry about prosecution.

Why should CIA agents be allowed to break the law? I'm sure Cheney would like to get this for himself. Sooner or later there will finally be justice for the American people.

No one has said that CiA agents should be allowed to break the law. If you would listen to the news rather than the Obama propaganda machines you would know that the career prosecutors in the Justice Department investigated the CIA. Charges were brought against one man, a contract employee, who was subsequently found guilty and sentenced.

    Wake up whoever you are?

Your comment: "Sooner or later there will finally be justice for the American people." is meaningless. Do you mean there will be justice for the terrorists?

No, I mean that finally at some point the higher level people who authorized illegal torture techniques will be identified. I strongly suspect that includes Cheney and Rumsfield and that's why Cheney is arguing so strenuously against bring these rogue agents to justice. This wasn't the President's call by the way. We actually have separation of power in this administration as opposed to the last one.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said: "The president has said repeatedly that he wants to look forward, not back, and he agrees with the attorney-general that those who acted in good faith and within the scope of legal guidance should not be prosecuted. Ultimately, determinations about whether someone broke the law are made independently by the attorney-general."

Obama has lied about everything else.

This just adds one more to the list.

Illegal torture like putting a caterpillar in the room?

Or the new revelations like saying "if you kill our families we will kill yours"?

These "tortures" that are being disclosed sound like they should be on the comedy channel.

"Tell me know where the bombs are or I will eat your candy bar !!!"

"Tell me where the bombs are or we will turn your socks inside out !!!"

You are either missing or purposely ignoring the fact that it is the attorney general who is pursuing the investigations. We are or at least we say we are a country of law. It is within the legal rights of the attorney general to conduct an investigation if there is the possibility that law was broken.

We say we are a country of law. Conservatives say they want law followed. So do you want the law to be followed or not?

And Obama can direct the actions of the attorney general.

You have bought into Obama's lame excuse for his lie that it isn't him but the AG who is responsible for the flip-flop.

BTW you seem to be ignoring the fact that obeying the law didn't really matter all that much to Obama before when he was appointing his cronies who somehow didn't pay their taxes.

If you look back in the news I believe you will find that Obama suggested that the investigation not be done. However, he cannot command the attorney general to not investigate. So your "lie" is inaccurate and simply shows your personal prejudice and hatred of Obama.

Do you want the USA to be a country of law or not?

Obama is the chief law enforcement officer. "The buck stops with him"

And this has been investigated already so to reopen it is pure politics and Obama should put a stop to it.

So, you want a country where law is not enforced?

SO Obama did not "lie" because he merely "suggested" that there be no investigation?

Actually, he has the power to replace the attorney general - so, yes, he has the power to shut down the investigation.

Your use of the word "hatred" shows your personal prejudice.

Whether it is against me personally or against anyone who does not worship at the altar of "the one", I can not say.

Yup. And as it has been pointed out to you this has already been investigated and nothing was found to warrant prosecution.

Fishing expeditions against your political rivals are not part of being a "country of law".

Making the policy of your predecessor "criminal" is the sort of thing that we see in little dictatorships around the world.

It is not a part of the American system of law.

You are not reading what has been said. Rev Mitchell said it has already been investigated, so this AG is just playing politics at the expense of an organization with field agents who may be demoralized by all these and result in their own demise or compromise as well as their own networks of assets and operatives.

    snip

"It would be unfair to prosecute dedicated men and women working to protect America for conduct that was sanctioned in advance by the Justice Department," Attorney General Eric Holder said.

    snip

On Thursday, the administration extended its protection even further, and said it would defend, at taxpayer expense, other government officials or employees who find themselves before a congressional inquiry, in any court, federal tribunal or in "any proceeding" if they relied on the memos as a legal basis for their conduct.

    snip

Oh, well, just like everything else that Obama says this must have come with an expiration date too.

    Whoever

Obama is a liar. The Attorney General serves at the pleasure of Obama or perhaps Obama's boss man, George Soros.

As I told whoever earlier; the boss man of the Attorney General is Obama and he serves at the pleasure of Obama. Obama is a liar because he indicated earlier, even told the CIA, that he wanted too move forward not look backward.

He can fire his flunky the Attorney General.

The Justice Department has already prosecuted the one man who broke the law.
