    From the article:

    Scary.

This egotistical self-promotion reminds me of other leaders...Chairman Mao, Qadaffi, Kim Jong-Il, and others.

I was going to keep my kid out of school during that speech. We would watch it...together. But I want a say in what is said in support of the speech. And I also want a say in directly refuting anything Obama says that is untrue. (Which, based on his recent behavior, I suspect there would be numerous falsehoods)

That, coupled with some of the flagrant Obama-worship that some in our education system have...thanks, but no thanks. I'm not interested in ceding control of my kids' views to mister Obama or his disciples.

Coupling this with the joint session to plead with Congress makes him look overbearing and weak.

If I had kids in a school showing this they'd be staying home that day. This is just a bad idea on the administration's part. They have lost the battle and are losing the war. To use our children to try to subvert the system is just plain ridiculous.

I hope members of Congress stand up and turn their backs on him if he gets too agitated tonight. This is why we have checks and balances. The President isn't our monarch, he isn't our dictator. He is only our President. This is a bad idea.

And I'm in favor of healthcare reform.

The Department of Education (where our tax dollars go to die) had gotten "educators," along with Obama's folks, to write a "curriculum" that went along with Obama's speech:

    Some of the questions suggested:
    • "Does the speech make you want to do anything?"
    • "Are we able to do what the president is asking of us?"
    • "Why does President Obama want to speak with us today? How will he inspire us? How will he challenge us?"
    • "Write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president." These would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals.
    Wow. Creepy, huh?

Some responses I've seen to this fiasco (edited heavily...)
    • "It's not Obama I'm worried about...It's (some of the) teachers. Many worship this man and will use his speech as a green light to push their own personal political agenda on their captive young audience."
    • "I just know something smells 'FISHY'. It should be reported."
    • "Parents should be given a form to opt out for their kids. Who really knows what Obama's going to say? You can't object later just like you can't unring a bell. Obama's speech hasn't even been seen or approved by the local school boards, which were elected by the community and are expected to approve content."
    • "Why don't we just replace the word 'President' with the words 'Dear Leader' in the workbooks? How can I help the President? Come on!
    • "Parents must sign off on just about every film, program, field trip, and guest speaker that comes into their kids' school. I dont hear of anything requiring permission attend this latest 'Sermon on the Mount' from the annointed one."
    • "Who cares what the speech is about? Obama is not the parent of America's kids. That is what mom and dad are there for. The Federal Government protects rights, enforces contracts and protects the nation from invasion....the end. Nowhere in the constitution will we see 'education advisor'. And why would we be listening to guy that hires avowed communists to work in the white house admin anyway?"
    You know...they have a point...

Caught in another Hitler like attempt at indoctrination and propaganda.

    Will these people ever learn?

Probably not. It appears Goebbels wrote their program.

This speech is a terrible idea. There is no way that it would not have become imbroiled in politics. Politics has no place in education. For that matter, the federal government has no rightful place in education, and state and local governments should stay out of education as well(even though state constitutions may allow it).

    Right....

Obama has "offically" withdrawn his request for help...

But the libbie leftest teachers that already bought into it will no doubt be more than willing to go along with the original "suggested" questions and tasks for their students any way.
