I don't advocate beating people while shopping. I always let them go first.

I did once read of some harassment in a US Wal Mart over suspected shop lifting but this goes way beyond that.

Sadly it seems that a lot of US retail employees would not care enough about their employer to stick their neck out for a shoplifter.

That said, I saw nothing in the article to eve prove the victim has even committed a crime.

Paul Harvey told a story sometime back about a man who tried to rob a Dollar General store. By the time the police arrived they found that two employees had held the would be robber while a third employee wrapped the robber from head to foot with duct tape.

Then there was the time that a football team was practicing and the ball went out of bounds. Some idiot picked it up and tried to steal it. Imagine his surprise when he was tackled and then off to jail. It was the police practicing to play the firemen in a Charity football game.

I see nothing in Aaron's post to warrant such an accusation. You should retract that.

But I agree with Dale.....there doesn't seem to be a crime committed, by the victim that is.

I believe that his point was that attacking the alleged shoplifter may have been a response more related to the local culture than a Walmart policy.

My guess is that the story would have been no different if the store located in China were named ValueMart.

My further guess is that this would not have been the employees' response to an alleged shoplifter had the shoplifting occurred at a Walmart located in the U.S.

So in that regard it may be correct to say that the title of the thread could better be stated as "Don't shoplift in China."

I wouldn't advise shop lifting anywhere.
but, my son at age 18 shop lifted there, no one man handled him, they asked him into the office and called the police.
I think prehaps people in China are different then people here, and reacted differently then americans working at wal mart do. I wouldn't blame it on wal mart, it probably happens more frequently in China then you'd think, they only reason it's posted here, or made news is it's wal mart.

since my son wasn't beaten by anyone, and my others son's mother in law worked there for more then 10 years, and a best freind who worked there twice for a total of more then 5 years, a couple of women at church work at wal mart, I am sure this is correct, it is not wal mart policy, but chinese culture to blame.

Dead on. In America, the Wal-Mart employees are endangered:

Liberals hate Wal-Mart because they're big, successful and non-union, and will demonize them any chance they get. MP's just goose-stepping to the beat.

No, it should simply read: "Woman beaten to death after shoplifting"
