I know there are a few here and for the most part, you can't tell that you guys are deaf when you type. However, I was just reading Facebook and there was a response from someone on someone's post that was just SOOOO hard to understand. I was getting annoyed thinking "These kids just don't know how to talk when typing!!" and so I started reading it to my daughter. Took me all of about 3 seconds to realize the girl is deaf. LOL She most likely goes to our deaf church (I think I recognize her name). NOW it makes sense. She's typing ASL.

Just a funny "lightbulb moment" for tonight.

It isn't just deaf. Many people write like they talk, and at times, that is confusing.

    But it is life.

That's the only way I know how to write. No, seriously, it is. It has served me well through college as a matter of fact. ;)

The finger motions should have given them away.

    Cheers,

I did too, but some people can't talk worth two cents, and when it moves over to the written word, it drives me nuts.

That's why I was annoyed at first. I can't STAND when these older teens/young adults have NO clue about grammar and spelling. But once I vocalized it, I knew just why it was so weird. LOL

I tried to write like I talk but I can't find the "stutter" key.

There was a deaf guy who posted here a couple years ago, who's name escapes me at the moment. He was very nice and I enjoyed talking to him, but it took a little bit of patience to talk to him because even though we both spoke English, we express it very differently.

    Off-topic, but only mostly so...

One crew of our deacons are responsible for locking up.

One of our deacons, on consecutive Sundays, has freaked out a church member.

He's going around, turning off the lights. Upon coming to the women's room outside our sanctuary...he knocks on the door. Upon hearing nothing, he reaches in & turns off the light.

For the last two weeks, one of our deaf church members has been in there! (needless to say...the knock is ineffective in communicating).

She's a great lady, with a fabulous sense of humor. Her good-natured response to us about this
after this past week, and I quote:

"You all are going to hear about this!"

    priceless...

LOL - That's too funny. That's why we put in motion sensor lights - so that the custodian can know if there's anyone who is in the restroom. :)

Good idea...otherwise...you'd never hear the end of it.

Thanks, folks...I'll be here all week...be sure and tip your waitress...
