Now we are expected to believe an article that quotes that imminent scholar and all around genius Keith Olberman. Bush didn't lie. A lie is making a deliberate false statement. Pres. Bush based his actions on information provided by the CIA, the UN, and others who agreed that Sadam had and would use WMDs as he had done before. Incidentally, these same comments were made by Clinton and most of the Dems in Congress. If Bush lied then they lied as well. Crabby why don't you protest their lies?

Yup. Noone called Hillary or Bill Clinton, Al Gore, John Kerry, or any of the other dems liars when they made their "WMD, we gotta take Sadaam out NOW, danger to a free world" speeches, either.

    What's your point ?

Oh, I get it. You are so wrapped up in the Obamenigma that it hurts YOu when he's called a liar.

What, specifically, did he say that was a lie?

For all of your claims, you didn't cite even one source.

Outrageous claims + no evidence = bovine excrement.

I take it you missed the 2005 State of the Union speech. He was booed and heckled several times. There are several clips of it available on Youtube.

You are wrong CBT. The leftist democrats have been calling President Bush a liar and worse for the last six years or so. They are still calling him a liar. You offer up something by MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann as evidence of truth. That is disgraceful for anyone who professes to be a Christian and makes you a participant in his lies.

In his old cramudgeon style, Crabby will no doubt limit his responses to here asking for proof that anyone ever shouted "you lie" at Bush while he was giving a speech.

He will hold on to the a very tight and narrow wording to prove everyone else wrong and to prove that he is right and be extension morally superior.

It must be the exact words "you lie".

Boos and hisses will not count.

    Thrown shoes will not count.

Any other names, insults or accusations will not count.

Crabby has drawn his line in the sand - it must be "you lie".

I seem to rememer there being shouts of lies all over this board, when he beleived false information that was given him. That by defination is not a lie. obama on the other hand keeps changing his truths to something else, deliberately giving false information.
big difference. common sense tells you that, opps, if there were any

I don't understand all the hullabloo (sp?) I've been calling politicians liars for years. They absolutely are. All of them.

When do you know a politician is lying? Their lips are moving.

Has President George W Bush lied? Yes. Has President Bill Clinton? Yes. Has President Barack Obama? Yes. Has Vice President Cheney lied? Absolutely. Have all the members of Congress lied at some point? Absolutely. It is the nature of politics.

I honestly could care less is someone yelled at the President during the speech. Have you ever watched a session of Parliament? How about some of the other forms of legislative expression around the world? We live with a deeply weird belief that when the head of the Executive Branch speaks we should keep quiet. Now I'm all for respectfulness, but sooner or later we got to start calling people out when we see it as ridiculous.

:applause: That's kind of what I don't get about this place sometimes: to my mind, all politicos are liars, and the higher they are, the more and larger their lies, as a rule. As a Limey, I therefore have found it hard from time to time to understand the attitude of "well, he's our President, you're disrespecting him by thinking that he might not be telling the truth all the time" (at least, that seemed to be the case here under G W Bush - has something changed?); as a Brit, I think that one of the prerequisites for being our Prime Minister is that you have to be capable of telling some massive whoppers with a completely straight face every so often. That's one of the reasons Brown is such a pathetic little PM; at least with Blair, you were pretty sure he was lying but he was such a smooth character that we could never quite work out how he was lying and prove anything (we didn't call him 'Teflon Tony' for nothing!). Brown OTOH is so transparent and wooden that it's usually obvious when he's telling a porkie.

It has been interesting reading the replies and watching how people muddle the message and lead it off course. Of course the op was about no one shouting "You lie" from the floor of Congress at Bush. But I guess those who call themselves conservatives here do not want to admit that the Democrats showed more respect for Bush during joint sessions than the Republicans did for Obama.

Was Wilson's outburst planned, as some believe? It may have been. After all he was from one of the safest seats in the House. In many town hall meetings the disruptions were planned. Was this another example of how uncivil conservatives have become?

To offer a correction... "Republicans" didn't say "you lie" in Congress. One Republican did - and he apologized. End of story.

But, I've never heard a Democrat apologizing for calling Bush a liar.

You are right, one Republican. But isn't that one too many to be so uncivil.

Remember no Democrat called Bush a liar from the floor of Congress in a joint session on nationwide TV. There is a big difference.

I don't care if he planned it or not, the fact is that he did do it and I'm glad he did. Perhaps now some of his gumption will rub off and a few others in congress will call it like it is.

I did two things this last weekend that I 've never done before, they were:

    1. Protested the Govenrment. My wife, two teenage kids and I left our comfy home in N.E. PA at 3:30 AM to venture to our Nations Capitol. I don't know how many there were there but from about 11:00 AM (the time we made it to the Capitol), and looking towards the Capitol Bldg. and behind us in the direction of the Washingtom monument, was a vast sea of people.

    2. I made a donation to a congressional political campaign for someone who is not going to be my congressman. In fact, I have only one other time contributed to a canidate, last year to Lou Barletta mayer of Hazleton PA, for congress. Yesterday, I sent $25.00 to Congressman Joe Wilson (R). This man has backbone, calls it like it is.

Crabtownboy, you can call me names all you like. I was there in DC and I know how well behaved the protester were, how many there were actually in attendence, how clean they left the Capitol Mall, the protesters passion for a free America. I know the truth, you apparently don't care to acknowledge the truth, but that is your right in the USA.

I do not believe I have called you a name. I am glad you exercised your civil right to attend a non-violent public protest. It does not matter if I agree with you or not. Either way I will defend you right to do so.

You are saying that the protests are uncivil. I'm the protest. Me, I'm totally in agreement with the Tea Party movement. There is no uncivil behavior. What you are doing is calling civil people, exercising their right to protest un-civil. That is basically calling me a liar. Not that I care mind you.

With me Crabtownboy, you get exactly what I think. I make no excuses for it. I'm a tax payer and I expect a few thing from my government in return. What I will not accept is my government officials calling me names. This is what they are doing. You Sir, are not troubled by this at all. Maybe someday, you will grow up and come to understand what the hub bub is, but I doubt it.

I believe you misread me Thomas. I said that it is uncivil to shout "You lie" to any president in a joint session of Congress on national TV ... and I stand by that. I would have been apalled if any Congressman, Democrat, Independent or Republican had shouted "You lie," to Bush in a joint session of Congress on national TV.

I have not called the protesters uncivil. From what I saw on TV they were quite well behaved.

Would you defend my right to protest?
