I'm only vaguely familiar with it, but it seems like a good program.

I can't help but wonder how many of the cars destroyed in Obama's "Cash for Clunkers" program could have gone to help low income families in need of a car.

You hit the nail on the head!

    and to answer Snow
    Code:
    Why the dislike for government,
and what is it that you think the government
    does right, anything thing?
I do not dislike the government. It is not the job of government of to take care of me.

Suppose my wife and I came to your house and started to make all kinds of changes - buying new furniture (on your credit card), putting in a vegetable garden in place of your rose garden, redoing you budget, reorganizing your kitchen cupboards and ect. You would demand that I get out. Yet, Mrs Salty and I are only there because we know what is best for you. (and with Mrs Salty - it would be the kind of foods you eat!!)

Is the government not comprised of your neighbors? Is it not their duty to take care of you? ("No man is an island . . . .")

No, my neighbors are NOT my government. It is not their duty to take care of me. Now, if I need assistance, they offer, and I accept - thats fine.

So, Bill; would you want me to come into your home uninvited and do what I think is best, irregardless of what you think?

No, the government is an entirely different entity. That's why we make the distinction between the government and our neighbors by calling one the private sector and the other the public sector.

I've never heard of this before. Are there other chapters of this program in the US? Thanks for posting this.

Because this country was founded on the principle of less government. Government intrusion is government control. No thank you

    Rev Mitchel,
Since this program is funded by private companies and not by the Govt, how would you support it?

This is is changing the subject. If someone wants and needs my help . . . the help I might offer is on my terms and not theirs. The one who pays the piper names the tune.

    >Because this country was founded on the principle of less government.

Documentation? Sounds good but . . . maybe Jefferson, not Jackson or Hamilton?

Most of them. Cash for Clunkers was a lousy program.

Considering the coming $4 gas, the 10% unemployment rate and the people losing their houses, might be more practical to help poor people relocate near public transportation.

I think the government does a lot right. I just can't seem to remember what that is.
