Wow. We sure do put some amazingly stupid people in charge of things.

    http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/viewpoints/articles/2009/09/19/20090919maceachern0920.html

The Tucson Unified School District has decided to implement a two-tiered system for student discipline. One tier will be for blacks and Hispanics ... and the other tier will be for everyone else.
Their goal? To create a "restorative school culture and climate."

I suppose that someone will come along and try and explain that this is not a racist policy.

My response: If you feel this way, then you...along with the idiots running the Tuscon school system...have experienced a complete break with reality.

The sad part is that the very students that they want to favor will pay the price in the end.

Lowering standards and consequences for poor behavior will impact on them negatively both in their education and in their growth towards productive adulthood.

As a kid I attended Catholic schools.

I should have claimed I was a member of the race-that-doesn't-like-rulers-on-the-knuckles.

So I suppose American Indians and Asian students are not considered minorities.

In addition to the above, hundreds of teachers (evidently Caucasians) were laid off so new teachers could be hired!

    From the linked article -
"The recruiting was prompted by what is fast becoming the consuming passion of the TUSD governing board and its allies - to establish a corps of teachers that precisely mirrors the racial make-up of its heavily minority ..."

This will never stand up in court. The only practical approach would be to physically segregate the school district into college track students and grunt track students. Never happen because no white person wants to admit that they and their kids are white trash.

In Snohomish County, WA, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean people are officially NOT minorities. Why? because they work harder, longer, and smarter than white people. I welcome you all to the white race so that you can make us look better.

This probably would not withstand a court challenge, but who knows. If the situation is as described in the op-ed, it is indeed a racist policy. Stupid people run way too many school districts in this country. I guess we get what we pay for.

    Interesting observation on your part.

Of course there is no doubt that the people involved in this particular situation would be of the party of "the one".

In that school funding is a local issue, why don't you work on that in your school district?

Perhaps you could look into getting your property taxes increased.

You had me, until the last sentence.

Some of the most ridiculous examples of stupidity I've seen have come from some of the best-funded districts in the country.

More money doesn't fix racism. It just allows it to be well-funded racism.

That is going on one of my T-shirts.
'More money doesn't fix racism. It just allows it to be well-funded racism.'
It might replace my favorite that says:
'I am a bomb technician. If you see me running, try to keep up.'
I'm not making fun of you, really.
That is one of the most succint sayings since, 'Imagine Whirled Peas.'
It reminds me of the election in Houston where a man spent over a million dollars to win a 25,000 a year job. His opponent asked why would he spend so much unless he expected something in return?
