My house guests, two weeks ago, said this is an untruth they have often seen published in the US. In fact, they said most of the information they see published about Canadian health care in the US is not true. Both said they have never had to wait for a procedure ... he is in his 70's and she in her late 60's.

So you are saying, despite published reports, that no Canadians come here for health care ?

Don't believe I mentioned anything about Canadians coming to the US for treatment. Sure, some do. What I said, now read this carefully, is that my house guests said that almost all the information they see coming out of the American media about Canadian health care is incorrect. I expect a lot of it here is slanted for political reasons here.

They said they are very happy with their health care and that no one goes bankrupt in Canada because of their health care system.

Birds of a feather flock together. I'm sure your house mates are bleeding hearts too and in no way could see problems with their beloved socialist system of medicine.

Not according to canada and it's medical world, whatever they call their AMA equivalent.
People must visit the doctor here and give fasle addresses, say they live in canada when they don't.

I'm neither disputing the OP or any responses, but I have family that lives in Alberta, who constantly complains about the Canadian public health care system. Their biggest complaint is having to wait for services. Two of my family members in Canada have private insurance, who don't experience the same problems that my family members on public insurane do.

It is settled and established fact that Canadians come to the US because of unreasonable and dangerous wait times for their health care.

So how many untreated patients are O.K. with you ? Read that question carefully.

I expect you slant a lot of things for political reasons, like yer story about the kid who died from a tooth infection. I think you have a pre-concieved bias against conservatism in all it's forms.

No person should be untreated. That is one big reason we need a revision of our health care system here at home. Those who live in glass houses should not throw bricks.

Yet people go untreated in the very system you endorse. Kind of ruins your sactimonious rant.

And it must warm your heart that you can say something you know is untrue, yet I can't call yopu a liar for it. Kind of stacks the deck in your favor, don't it ? But deep down, you KNOW I have advocated bringing medical expenses down. And have articulated how to do it. But then again, I have never been banned for dishonest posting habits, either.

I am assuming then that your friends live in a urban area. Less populated areas of Canada suffer from a chronic lack of medical services due to a shortage of doctors, equipment and medical facilities.

That is why paying of medical care provided in the U.S is part of the Canadian medical system.

The U.S. makes up for a large part of the Canadian system shortcomings.

Not really, I answered your question. Perhaps you did not understand your own question. You did not ask if anyone every dies from lack of treatment in Canada. You asked, now many untreated deaths are all right. I replied, none. How many deaths from lack of insurance in the US are all right with you?

Nope. You didn't read carefully enough, did you ? I asked how many untreated PATIENTS were O.K. with you. I said nothing about deaths. Once again, you use dishonest tacticts to shift away from the subject.

And the question doesn't work with my stance, as I want to reduce costs, to make it more affordable, and you are the one claiming all will be covered. Miscreant parents, like the ones in the article you posted, and other factors beyond anyone's control will mean some people die without treatment, as sad as it is to say. Unavoidable is how I would describe those.

So it is all right for 'miscreant parents' children to die"

Once again, you dishonestly put words in my mouth, in order to show me a bigot. Why shouldn't I be able to call you a liar, C.T.B. ? How could you possibly get that out of what I said ?

For someone who goes and cries to the moderators when called a liar, you sure are liberal with the truth.

    I win.

In your mind you always win. Of course G.B. has the same psychological affliction.

You brought up the word. You indicated the child deserved to die because of the parents. Your intent, not mine.

Oh, here come more insults.

The issue with health care is not one of "no one should go untreated", it's more a matter of "no person should be required to pay for the treatment of another".

I completely favor not withholding necessary care from people. I also would not oppose a government run health insuranace plan, so long as the cost is born by those insured, and not the general public. Neither the Canadian system nor the currently proposed US plan falls into that category.

If it is relevant to ask how many deaths there if the uninsured, then is also relevant to ask how many deaths are there among the insured.
If no one should go untreated government health care is obviously not the answer. Waiting to see doctors, waiting for tests and procedures if and when you get them at all, maybe you'll get a needed surgery in 6 months and maybe not.
doesn't sound good for your argument.
