Since Christ is not divided he will not tell people opposite things. So he will not tell one group that homosexuality is not a sin and another group that it is. He will not tell one group that Mary was born sinless and another group that she was. He will not tell one group that man has free choice and another group that nothing can happen without the Lord's decree. Thus as 1 Corinthians 11:19 explains, divisions happen between true and false teachers; those approved by God and those who are not.

So how do we tell which groups are approved by God and which are not? Nobody seems to know. I'll give you a hint, only the words in the bible as written are the infallible truth as John 1:1-2, Hebrews 4:12 2 Corinthians 11:4 and Galatians 1:6 explain.

That means that one does not add the word "not" before the word "detestable" in Leviticus 18:22. One does not make up verses from his imagination about Mary that aren't in the bible. And one does not ignore the hundreds of verses about God's sovereignty and add the word "free" in front of the word choice every times he sees it.

So those who add their own words to the bible or subtract words from the bible are those
not approved by God because DT. 4:2 and 1 Corinthians 4;6 tell us not to go beyond what is written.

But Paul tells us in 2 Timothy 4:3 that people will abandon sound doctrine and gather around them a great number of teachers who say what their itching ears want to hear.

So how does this happen? As usual, one goes to the bible for the answers...at least I do. Unfortunately, most people rely on their fallible human imaginations for them. But since they're fallible, they cannot be trusted

So 1 Timothy 4:1 tells us how this is happening: "The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons." Things taught by demons want the bible to say the opposite of what it says since only Satan opposes God and will entice people to do the same.

But unfortunately, non-Calvinists don't understand the power of Satan any more than they understand the power of God. Satan is the ruler of the air and only Jesus has victory over Satan. So man cannot stop himself from being deceived by demons by his own free will. Only the Holy Spirit can do that and only those whom he is drawing will ask Him for the Holy Spirit as Jesus tells us.

But I don't expect many people here to believe that humans don't have power over Satan or God since they claim that their actions come from their own free will. Not only is that a deception, it will keep them from seeing just how much power Satan has over them and the world. When people are being taught by demons, they can't see it so they have no "free choice" over it.

But that's your problem, not mine. I no longer have any desire to hear people exalt themselves here. Many of us have tried to show you that none of us is any better than a worm and none of us has power over God or Satan. Whether you understand that is between you and God. So I'll take my leave.

True, but scripture does not address everything. There are places where scripture is ambiguous. In those areas, it's possible to come to more than one interpretation. Usually, this is a matter of scriptural liberty, and should be left as such.

Then don't go beyond what's written. One of the reasons that most people don't know what sound doctrine is any more is that so many people have been adding their own words to the bible and making it say anything they want it to say for centuries that they can't distinguish between God's word and their own imagination!

So if you don't go beyond what is written, you'll be just fine. God reveals to us in the bible exactly what he wants us to know, no more no less. So there is always some scripture about every single dilemma in life. But most people are trying so hard to go beyond what's written, that most of them don't even know what's in the bible since God's truth in the bible is endless. :jesus:

But you are fallible too, are you not? How can we trust you?

You said you were leaving last week, yet here you are again.

The op has already decided what the Bible is saying, so there is no point in saying anything.

To thine own self be true.

    Cheers,

Does your church require baptism as a requisite for membership? Guess what? You're going beyond what's written. Does your church serve grape juice and crackers for communion? You're going beyond what's written.

    Carico,

divisions among those who call themselves Christians will exist for as long as children of God live in a corrupted and corruptible body and world. the only time all these divisions will be gone is when the children of God are where they are supposed to be, where they were redeemed for: in the presence of their Redeemer, Savior, and King, where all such are forgotten, past, no longer to be remembered.

Until then, here on earth, divisions will exist inter-denominationally, extra-denominationally, and even intra-denominationally, among God's children and those who identify with Him, and it is not the duty of any among us to convert anyone into our theology, or to call the other side heretic, erroneous, etc., etc., because if you do, "anything you say can and will be used against you". and then there will be no end to the accusation and counter-accusation and one or two or all will go away with the day undone.

Suffice to say that we all belong to a church, a group, or a denomination, where we all agree with other members of that church, group, or denomination, as to the doctrines of God's sovereignty, sovereign electing grace, the sufficiency of God's Son's blood for the atonement of His people's sins, the virgin birth of Christ, the humanity of Christ and His Deity, His finished work, so forth and so on.

Other groups and other denominations will not hold to what you and I believe, but as far as I am concerned, that doesn't detract, deflect, or deduct from what Christ has done and accomplished for His people (note: His people, as opposed to members of that denomination).

He knew them, He bought them with His blood, and He will bring His finished work to perfection, and them to glory, in His own time, His own way, independent and apart from who they were, and what they held to here in corrupt time.

    Okay, catch you all later.
My wife is overtoasting my bread again.
    But I love her, nevertheless.

Same way we overtoast our Savior, yet He loves us, nevertheless.

Why don't you just say what you really believe? ie. "All non-Calvinist are going straight to hell."

Sag38, maybe you meant Carico, but let me just do a de Niro here for clarification:
Are you talking to me ?
Are you talking to me ?
Are you talking to me ?
Are you talking to me ?
Are you talking to me ?

But if it was Carico you were talking to, and that is what he thinks, that all non-Cals will be going to hell, then I guess he's fairly new in his Calvinism, and still excited at his discoveries. Happens. He'll chill out, give him some time.

Carico has already made that type of statement, as well as anyone not Calvinistic is being taught by demons. Which I guess makes sense as all those not Calvinists would not be saved and therefore have the Holy Spirit teaching them

Actaully there are a small group of Calvinists who hold to his views though I don't recall their name but are pretty much Hyper-Cals. They are pretty much few and far between.

However, the De Niro bit was funny

On some questions, I have come to the point where I say "this is where I am right now."

I do that because as I have gotten older, I have changed my view on some issues. I no longer hold to the view of eschatology that I held 30 years ago. It was pretty traumatic to come to the conclusion that what I had ardently believed to be true was not. You talk about a humbling experience.

Of course, some questions are settled, but either way, humility is always appropriate.

Wisdom is most profound from one who humbly gives it to another. And your advise is wise indeed. :saint: What was that veres? Wisdom is known of her children.

Oh oh, what about everyone born before Calvin?

Hell is even more crowded than we formerly believed.
