Is driving a right or a privelage?

The proper way to distinguish a right from a privelage is that a right cannot be taken away from you. Privelages can be taken away from you.

Driving by those definitions is a privelage. Same thing for owning a gun & voting. If you commit a felony, then you lose those "rights". So therefore, voting & owning a gun is not entirely a right.

 

A privilege, you need to learn how to use a motor-engined vehicule, and the license tells you know how to use it " normally ". It would be too dangerous elseway :s. Again, if you get to be very sick, it's possible to become unable to drive, no ? And people are forbidden to drive, elseway they would be too dangerous (drunk, under medics, very ill ....). So i agree, it's a privilege.

 

You are correct!!! Also when you get the privilege to drive, it isn't your right to stay in the left lane until you get off of the highway.

 

If driving a car is a constitutional right then so is flying a plane.

Difference between riding a horse and driving a car is that if a rider fell off a horse no one else got hurt.

 

Privilege...

 

A right is bestowed without merit. A privilege is earned. Driving is most definitely a privilege.
