This was not spoken about the tree of life, it was said about the tree of knowledge of good and evil, an entirely different tree.

Gen 2:9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Both trees were in the midst of the garden, but they were two seperate trees. It was the tree of knowledge of good and evil they were forbidden to eat of. They were not forbidden to eat of the tree of life.

Gen 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Eve did not hear this command from God, she was not formed from Adam's rib until after God spoke these words to Adam. This may explain why she quoted God wrong in Genesis chapter 3. She probably learned from Adam, not God.

Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

It was the tree of knowledge of good and evil that is described as good for food, and pleasant to the eyes, and to be desired to make one wise, not the tree of life.

And after eating they did know both good and evil.

Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

And this verse also shows that the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil were two seperate and individual trees.

People believe men physically die because of sin. That is not entirely true. Men spirtually die because of sin, but if Adam and Eve would have eaten of the tree of life they would have physically lived forever in a sinful state.

Go back and read it again Winman:

And out of the ground made Jehovah God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Gen 2:9

    It applied to both trees.

The Tree of Life still exists. I saw it on my last trip to Orlando. Here it is:

You may be correct, although the the word "also" seems to give the tree of life it's own individuality from those trees first mentioned. But I will grant that it is very likely that this description did apply to the tree of life.

Actually, some see it very literally and consider it a physical tree, but that it has died, drowned or something. Sooo, I'm afraid they would disagree with you about seeing it. Sorry...;)

Sounds symbolically like the same tree?

    Revelation 2:7
    (7) He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

The Tree of Life and the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil are two separate trees. This is the first time I ever heard someone say they were the same tree and I don't believe the text supports that.

    Note from the NET Bible:
This is their note on the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil:
Notice that it is the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil," not "tree of knowledge of good and evil."

I guess I've missed something; has someone insinuated that the two trees are the same?

I misunderstood/misread a previous post talking about the "same tree" but I think it meant the tree of life in the Garden and in Revelation - can't recall now; there's too much on page one for me to look it over right now. Sorry if I misunderstood.

Apologies are probably in order from me here. I posted a SECOND analagy by Pink about the Tree of Knowldege of Good and evil which was off topic, and possibly has generated some confusion.
