You cannot look at caskets of young men & women who have died in armed combat without being deeply moved. I'm glad he did it, and I hope & pray what he saw weighs heavy on him.

I doubt it will. If it does, it will be to turn tail and roll over to those we are supposed to be fighting.

Agreed. And, though I agree with Obama about 0.1% of the time, I think questioning his motives would not be good form for me as an American to do.

On a related note: I noticed Obama saluted, while members of his team did the "hand over heart" show of respect. I'm just curious (this isn't to bash the president): What's the proper protocol there? Can he, as commander in cheif, do either? Like I said...not a criticism, I'm just curious. (it's kind of like all recent presidents do..saluting the guard @ Marine One...what's the proper protocol? Or is there one?)

For a POTUS, I think either is proper protocol. Not 100% sure on that, though.

I agree. I think it would be very hard to see these bodies of these young Americans coming home, lives cut short.

Different presidents approach this in different ways. G. Bush met with many families, but did not visit Dover as bodies came in from Iraq nor did he attend any military funerals. I believe meeting with the family members of fallen soldiers is also appropriate.

He is the commander-in-chief. I would suspect that a salute is proper in his military role and a hand over heart in a civilian capacity.

This is the least he can do, since his stupidity is getting our soldiers killed in the first place. This is just another photo op for him. He has proved time and again he cares nothing about our LIVING soldiers. Sorry, I can't believe he cares about the dead ones, either.

I can only hope the sight of those caskets stirs a spark of true humanity somewhere down deep in his narcissic self.

I really do not feel this is accurate. The war started under the previous president.

This is a very unjust comment. It is as logical as my saying Bush did not care for the dead soldiers because he did not go to Dover or go any of their funerals. I believe Bush cared. I believe Obama cares.

Show me a politician who is not narcissictic and I will show you one who will never be elected to any office.

What has Obama done to show appreciation to our troops? NOTHING!

When my brother was in Iraq and Obama went there to meet with the top brass, some of the troops lined up to shake his hand and he wouldn't give them the time of day. Those men, risking their lives to protect his sorry hide, weren't even important enough for a simple handshake! Don't tell me Obama cares. He didn't care then and he doesn't care about them now, only about what makes him look good to the public.

His inaction on Afganistan speaks volumes as to his true concern for our troops. Either give them what they need to win or bring them home. So many, right now, are dying for no real reason.

That's my take, also. It's not like this is the first time bodies of troops who died in Afghanistan or Iraq have arrived at Dover since President Obama has been in office. Not even the first time a multiple of bodies has arrived since that date. Just brings to mind the question, "Why now?"

If anyone of importance cared about living soldiers the soldiers would be sent home to protect our borders, not Arab oil fields and Afghan poppy fields.

Don't know if it is the case but BBC reported that this is the first time he has done this.

My guess is his approval rating is dropping because of his inaction about Afghanistan, so this is his way of fixing it.

While I can agree partially, I will disagree with the idea of just yanking our boys out. Ask the men who are over there and they will tell you it is not the time to pull out. Let them do their job and get things stabilized as best they can with all those crazy people over there, and then they can come home and hold their heads high. To withdraw and leave a vaccuum would just allow things to become even worse than they were and give our enemies even more fuel for their fire.

Once the job is done, bring them home and let them protect/secure our borders, especially to the south. The Border Patrol can't seem to get the job done, and our boys will have had plenty of practice operating in the deserts and mountains. Catching border jumpers will be a walk in the park for them. ;)

There is a difference between narcissistic behavior and being a pathological Narciccist, which I believe Obama to be.

One is occasional behavior and the other is a mental illness that rules their lives.

Under extreme pressure, the nut will crack.
