It's that time again. I voted, and did so via absentee ballot. Just sent it out in the mail.

    How do you noramlly vote?

We have early voting here, so I normally vote a couple of weeks ahead of the actual polling date. I also vote in every election possible.

How about one stop voting the two to three weeks prior to the election day. Isn't really absentee....just don't want to mess with absentee or election day.

I forgot about early voting. For purposes of the poll, that would fall under "I visit my polling place on voting day"

Trotter, good point on vosint in every election possible. My vote was in a regional representative election. Local elections have the most direct impact on the community, yet those are the elections that have the lowest turnout. I campaigned for a mayoral candidate, aggressively knocking door to door and talking to my neighbors. My candidate won by 20 votes.

Absentee voting is one of the primary vehicles democrats use to steal elections.

The rules need to be tightened extensively.

???? Most of family is Republican, and most of them vote absentee. A vote is a vote. One cannot "steal" an election with legitimate votes.

    A simplistic and uninformed view.

Absentee voting in some states is rife with illilegitimate votes and an open invitation to election fraud.

Read up on it, or remain ignorant. Your choice.

I'm well-informed. An absentee vote is still a vote cast by a registered voter. Since every absentee vote it checked to see if it was cast by a registered voter, it is no more susceptible to voter fraud then in-person voting. You have no evidence that suggests it's a vehicle for voter fraud by democrats, other than commentary and gossip. The ignorance is yours and yours alone.

Since you say you are well informed, one can only conclude you have decided to ignore the overwhelming evidence of absentee voter voter fraud.

    So be it.

    bolded mine

And you, my friend, are showing your ignorance and/or naivety by this bolded quote from you.

You likewise have no evidence that this is fact in every state, save for your Pollyannaish attitude. So don't get so snippy with your holier-than-thou approach.

Carpro barks "A simplistic and uninformed view... Read up on it, or remain ignorant.", and you accuse me of being holier than thou?? Whassupwiddat???
Capro made the claim sans evidence. Bark at him.

Having in the past benn a volunteer for my registrar of voters, I have some experience in this area. An absentee ballot is mailed to a registered voter upon request of the voter. When it is mailed in, it has that voter's registration information preprinted on it. When an absentee ballot arrives at the Registrar's office, it is checked to make sure it came from a registered voter. Only then is the ballot removed and processed for counting.

I've processed absentee ballots many times, and done so in whichever state I was living in at the time.

No evidence should be required for any reasonably well informed person, which you say you are. The are literally hundreds of examples for anyone that cares to know the truth. You either don't want to know or just refuse to recognize it.

I will not waste time providing evidence to those that are purposefully ingorant.

Seeing as how you're refusing to provide evidence, the ignorance is your and your alone.

Now, let's get away from the attempted hijack, and back on topic. How do you guys normally vote?

I'm not saying voter fraud doesn't occur in general. Of course it does. I'm arguing Carpro's claim that absentee voting is one of the primary vehicles democrats use to steal elections. It likely not any more or less a vahicle than any other form of voting, and likely not done any more or less by democrats than any other party.

Again, let's get back to the OP topic, and awy from the attempted hijack.

You're making no argument at all.

By choosing to ignore the obvious, the "hijack" is yours.

There's no argument to the fact that voter fraud doesn't occur. Your claim that absentee voting is one of the primary vehicles democrats use to steal elections is what is in question. It's off-topic, and self-serving. You don't think Republicans or any other politcal party ever engages in voter fraud?
Nice try, but false. The hijack is yours entirely. This topic isn't about voter fraud, it's about how one votes. Get back to the topic.

I am opposed to absentee voting in general. Exceptions are for those in the military or those who are physically unable to get to the polling place. You correctly state carpro that: "Absentee voting is one of the primary vehicles democrats use to steal elections."

I vote early and as often as possible. I'm also a believer that people younger than 25 should not be allowed to vote and that our teachers should not be allowed to spew forth their ideals to ANY child, right or left, nor should they be allowed to wear or post any political propaganda in school.

    JohnV-

Come to South Texas and we'll teach you how absentee voting contributes to voter fraud. We have professionals down here-

    http://www.themonitor.com/articles/progreso-24300-solutions-alleged.html

I tend to vote Republican or Independent (the last good Democrat that I voted for was Charlie Bennett when I lived in FL) but I like to go in person even though it is a "hassle" (my word). If our men and women can go through the "hassle" of living in tents in Iraq and Afghanistan, I surely can go through a little bit of "hassle" to keep our politics relatively honest.
