Last Saturday, at 11 o’clock in the evening, the House of Representatives voted by a five vote margin to have the federal government manage the health care of every American at a cost of $1 trillion dollars over the next ten years.

For the first time in American history, if this bill becomes law, the Feds will force you to buy insurance you might not want, or may not need, or cannot afford. If you don’t purchase what the government tells you to buy, if you don’t do so when they tell you to do it, and if you don’t buy just what they say is right for you, the government may fine you, prosecute you, and even put you in jail. Freedom of choice and control over your own body will be lost. The privacy of your communications and medical decision making with your physician will be gone. More of your hard earned dollars will be at the disposal of federal bureaucrats.

It will never pass the constitution. The first person to get fined and challenge it will get it made void.

The power to compel individuals to purchase goods and services against their will is not specifically delegated to the federal government. It violates the 10th Amendment.

And if it ever became law it would be challenged as to its constitutional merits. The plans are made and just waiting.

    IP is correct

Revmitchell finally got something right. The traditional economic/political definition of "fascism" is a government that controls business for the mutual benefit of the government and big business . . . something like that.

If anyone doubts that the government is actively transferring assets from the working class to big business, please explain where the first 2 trillion went.

    Wrong.

Government is transferring assets from all workers and businesses to itself.

Example: GM--Government Motors. (at least the part they didn't give to organized crime...er, the UAW).

    >Government is transferring assets from all workers and businesses to itself.

Someone always owns the government and it is seldom the serfs. That's why nothing changes when ruling party changes. Both parties are owned by the same companies who are owned by the same people.

Company CEOs sit on each other's boards and vote each other raises. 50 years ago most company stock was owned by individual people. Now days most company stock is owned by funds, insurance companies, and banks, all controlled by the same people. Half the stock market trades are made by computers. Who votes the share?

My IRA is run by a "fixed fee" guy and I don't read any of the financial stuff the companies are required to send. I throw the proxies away. As long as he is beating the market I don't care what my guy buys or sells. All I know is when everyone I know lost at least 30%, I only lost 20%. <G>

What is this strange document? Do our elected "representatives" know about this? It seems like it could be a good model for a free people to use to limit the powers of their government. We really should try to change to this model some day!

"The devil is in the details." <G>

For example, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." Our fastest growing religion requires a public call to prayer 5 times a day. The people who wrote the Constitution never considered bull horns and electrical amplification. An electronic call to prayer is no more offensive than a street preacher with a bull horn. Both need to be banned for public health reasons (driving people crazy, causing hearing loss), thus nullifying the free exercise of religion.
