"for not only does [Gennesaret] produce the most suprisingly diverse fruits but it maintains a continuous supply. Those royal fruits of the grape and the fig it furnishes for ten months on end, the rest ripening on the trees all year round; for apart from the temperate atmosphere it is watered by a spring with great fertilizing power, known locally as Capernaum." ---Josephus, The Jewish War

meat killed by hunting is not kosher

People on the Baptist threads don't know that hunted meat is not kosher killed. Jesus could not have eaten it.

It's one thing to to be a meat hunter. Should it boost one's self esteem to kill an animal with a modern hunting rifle? Do people who hunt humans, say in Iraq, get bigger bragging rights? (been an NRA member for 45 years)

Is there no limit to how low you are willing to sink into your own sewage?

'Tis a shame that the efforts of our fine men and women in uniform are lost on folks like you.

    I pity you.

Huh? There is plenty of extrabiblical argheological evidence that shows grapes and wine have been staples in society for thousands of years. In scripture alone, there is mention of wine in Genesis a dozen times. Wine and grapes are first mentioned together in Leviticus.

The fermentation of grapes into wine was the only way they had to store grape juice over a period of time. It is not the drinking of wine with a meal that is a sin, but the abuse of wine in becoming drunk that leads to sins ... just as over eating, gluttony, is a sin, but eating a proper amount is not a sin.

I do not believe the Bible mentions the drying of fruit, but I bet they did as this was the only way they had to store fruit over a long period of time.
