President Obama's job approval rating has fallen to 47 percent in the latest Gallup poll, the lowest ever recorded for any president at this point in his term.

The new low comes as Obama enters the home stretch in his push to enact his signature initiative, an overhaul of the nation's health care system, and escalates America's involvement in the Afghanistan war.......

......Below are comparable ratings for other presidents since Gallup began taking presidential approval polls in 1938:

    -- George W. Bush, 86 percent
    -- Bill Clinton, 52 percent
    -- George H.W. Bush, 71 percent
    -- Ronald Reagan, 49 percent
    -- Jimmy Carter, 57 percent
    -- Gerald Ford, 52 percent
    -- Richard Nixon, 59 percent
    -- Lyndon Johnson, 74 percent
    -- John Kennedy, 77 percent
    -- Dwight Eisenhower, 69 percent
    -- Harry Truman, 49 percent

I suspect his approval would have been higher at this point if he had initiated a troop surge to Afghanistan sooner. But I'm just playing armchair pollster. There are numerous "shoulda woulda coulda" factors that would affect an approval rating. Overall, Obama is being perceived as a reactive potus rather than a proactive potus. People right now want a proactive potus. They thought that's was Obama ws going to be, but he hasn't been.

The poll numbers themselves are meaningless at this point: case in point: Reagan's were nearly as bad; "W's" were astronomical. We know where they both ended up.

However, what should concern liberals is the reasons for O's low marks. It is in areas that frankly were supposed to be strengths of his. If this is his good stuff, can you imagine what his numbers will be when folks figure out how monumentally under-qualified the Community Organizer is to run our country?

The poll has a margin of error of 3%, so his numbers could be as high as 50%, which would put him above Reagan.

What was the margin of error that put Reagan at 49? This is rhetorical of course.

    Of course it was...I posted it, didn't I? :D :D

But don't forget the last half: the reason for Obamarex's low numbers should scare his folks to death...the numbers are low and he's dealing with his "strong suit" (I'm being generous here...a man with no experience and no moral compass really doesn't have a strong suit...but I'll go along with perception).

If he's that low in his "strong suit," what will happen when he really gets over his head?

I'll answer anyway :). Of course there was a margin of error for Reagan's 49. What we can't say if whether Reagan's or Obama's approval rating is actually higher, lower, or the same at the percentage listed. All we can say is that it is within that certain margin of error.

The point of all that is that we can't say with certainty that Obama has the lowest approval rating of any President at this point in their term. We can conclude that he has one of the lowest however. We can also conclude that approval ratings at this point in a President's term aren't a very good indicator of there full term performance.

We can say that since all polls have margins of error but the bigger point is that someone who was deemed to be so popular at the start is falling very fast. His Marxist agenda is hurting him terribly and the only thing propping him up at all right now is his personality.

You don't think Reagan's ratings had a similar margin of error?

    Never mind.

I see you've already provided a response that is pure nonsense.

Yea he is the first President to "travel to 57 states with two left." But then he did not have his teleprompter in front of him so it is a reasonable mistake.

Obama's big problem- and this drives me nuts- is that he's way too wishy-washy. Johnv was right when he said Obama's being reactive. He took forever to decide on the troop surge. He's being wishy-washy on the public option, closing Gitmo, some civil liberty issues, budget deficit, etc.
