I like some R&B, Motown, classic rock (70's & 60's), hair bands, some metal, CCM, some classical. I don't care for country much and can't stand most southern gospel. If you turn on opera you will be minus one radio/CD player/whatever.

Broadway music, the big bands of the 30's and 40's, ballads, a few modern songs, but very limited, and some opera, the older hymns and gospel songs.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Definitely southern gospel, and I marked "other" since I also like the music from the 1950's and earlier and some of the 1960's music. After the 1960's forget it! No one writes good music any more (in my opinion) except for southern gospel.

My musical tastes are eclectic -I primarily like jazz, r & b, classical, easy listening, CCM, but I've certainly enjoyed southern gospel, country, indie, big bands, even a touch of bluegrass, etc. on occasion. As for opera - I recently went with my bro-in-law to my first-ever and it was electrifying! Not sure it's my cup of tea, but I'm glad I went and got to enjoy the experience!

I'm pretty much all over the map. I'm not a fan of music that takes no talent to make (which pretty much sets most rap aside, as well as songs containing less than three chords), or music that was stolen (once again, rap artists abound).

I often enjoy "symphonic" music, which today refers to mostly movie soundtracks. My favorite composers are John Williams, James Horner, and Michael Giaccino. But my taste overall is ecclectic. I'm currently listening to the "Glee: Volume 1" CD, which has a wide variety of styles.

My favorite CD is "The Best of Marcel Marceau".

Jim's tastes and mine are quite close, although I'm not much of an opera fan. I do like classical music, and some of the great oratorios, such as Handel's Messiah, and Haydn's Creation.

Tom, I have seen Phantom of the Opera in person some 14 times including the very first performance in London. Andrew Lloyd Webber is an absolute music genius.

Good to read that you enjoy music. I play the organ, and sometimes when I got frustrated, I went to my church, opened all the stops and played the organ at 2 in the morning.

    Cheers,

    Jim
