In I John 4:7-8, we read "...let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love, does not love God, because God is love."

Why do some people, who disagree with others who post their convictions, like to call those they disagree with, "trolls"? Does this bring them joy? Does it honor Christ?

We all maybe fail in this NT commandment from God, and the fact that His commandments are not burdensome just shows what a shower we are.

Perhaps we could promote Christian love going forward.

You weren't called a troll because you were posting convictions. You were called a troll because you were trolling. Trolling is frowned upon on bulleting boards, and is considered bad nettiquite. Feel free to discuss your convictions, but it would help your position if you didn't engage in trolling when doing so.

Please define a "troll" accordng to Scripture. You love those who have been saved by Jesus. Thanks!

Dear Troll expert, We know your way. Hate people who love the way of grace. Thanks for your zeal of hate. You have shown your self for what you are. You are not a troll. How Blessed. [personal attack edited] On this board, hating the church is ok. Just don't hate the zealous ones of hate.

Please show me what the meaning of "Love" is without calling me a "Troll" for the fourth time. Jesus is love.

Scripture calls some fools. Does that honor Christ?

To name someone something that is possibly true is bringing man into the light. If someone comes to a bulletin board and posts to cause trouble and is not interested in the actual community of the board, then they are termed a "troll". As believers, we are allowed to judge the actions of others and call them on wrong behavior. That DOES honor Christ.

The scriptural definition of love has nothing to do with whether or not you were trolling, nor does the scriptural definition of love give one permission to troll.

You are only committed to calling me a "Troll." You love doing it because you are committed to hating people who disagree with you. May God forgive for your hate.

I haven't called you a troll at all in this thread. You brought it up.
The hate appears to be your exclusively.

It appears that you are trying to remove yourself from the HATE you have shown me by trying to say that you have not been hating on me for the last 5 minutes. How clever, dear hater. May God forgive you.

Edward, I honestly have to say that I've seen a lot of hostility coming from YOU in this thread and it is all directed to John. I'm sorry if you're dealing with something that is causing you to lash out at him but I'd suggest you take a break from the computer right now, get a drink of water and maybe pray a little and come back later. It's not worth getting so worked up over.

Uh, you started the thread, and now you're making accusations you can't support. And you're accusing me of hating?

Let's make this easy: Show me one post in this thread where I called you a troll, since you're accusing me of four times having called you one. If you can't then at least acknowlege that none exists in this thread. If you can find one, I'll address it, and, if necessary, repent.

Let's make this easier. You are saying that you have never called me a "troll." Please answer "Yes" or "No" so that we might know the truth. Thanks!

I'm not saying that at all. In another thread, you were trolling, and I commented that we have a troll in the thread. I did so because that's what you were doing. You were trolling, and trolling is frowned upon by the moderators. And I wasn't the only one who noticed. You seem to have picked me out of that crowd.

In this thread, I haven't done this once.

That said, you're aware, aren't you, that cross-posting (carrying a topic from one to another) is discouraged? If you have an issue with having been called a troll in another thread, it would be prudent to discuss it in that thread, so people know what is being referred to.
