No. Conservatives need to unite to take back the Republican Party. Conservatives are like Protestants, in the right but not unified. Only a true statesman can unify conservatives under one banner, and I am praying that God send us one.

The way his fanboys adore him, you'd think that Ron Paul was the second coming.

    From the url:

"The home of the original Jefferson Republican Party as founded by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison in 1792 called the Democratic-Republican Party."

This political party became the Democratic Party. <G>

True - but the Democratic-Republican Party was more of States rights thinking, where the Federalist Party (forerunner of Whig / Republican) was more of a strong Federal power.

In essence the two parties have switched policies.

Dr. Paul's views on U.S. foreign policy will keep him out of the GOP brotherhood. Other than that, he agrees with you, thet the system is set up against third-party candidates, and he has stated several times he won't seek a nomination from one.

If the Republican Party supported states' rights it would not have elected Lincoln and supported his war. In that war, the Republican Party effectively ended any meaningful concept of states' rights

I agree with your final statement, but - the Republicans did not "elect" Lincoln - they nominated him. And one reason Lincoln won the election was because the Democrats had split into factions. In addition die-hard Whigs along with the Know Nothings formed the Constitutional Union Party - all of which had won electoral votes.

To understand why Lincoln won the Republican nomination, read this From Wikipedia

Its interesting to note that Jefferson Davis was actually considered for the Democratic ticket!

Foreign policy right off the top of my head. I'm not a libertarian. He seems to me to be anti-Semite. A lot of his remarks are lacking, causes him trouble. And I guess most of his supports that I know, rub me the wrong way. It seem to be another Jimmy Buffett act, very cult like. I never think of him or Buffett till one of their fans brings up how great he is and why we all should do back flips for him and I hadn't thought of him good or bad in a long time, I live well with out both of them.

It has been years since I have voted for a Republican for president and I have never voted for a democrat for president or a libertarian for president. If I don't vote for liberal republican, or democrats running as republicans, why would I vote for a libertarian running as a republican?

Absolutely not. The Republican Party needs to be delegated to the trash heap of history. They have betrayed every conservative principle of governing, ignored the Constitution, and in essence, have become one with the Democrats except to those whose perception ends at their nose.

We do need a person who can unify conservatives, Constitutionalists, third parties, those who do not vote or are not registered, those that are sick of both parties, and Independents. For this I am praying.

To a point, I agree with you. The GOP was ready for the trash heap when Reagan came along. What they need is leadership, and it wouldn't hurt if it was good Christian leadership.
My father would agree with you, but his way of doing it wouldn't be yours or mine. He was a member of the GOP here in Florida when very few voted for any GOP candidate. He put a lot of time into trying to break down the Jim Crow laws in the state.
Most of the GOP down here back then was Presbyterians, most held to ultra Calvinism, a few Cumberland Presbyterians, some Lutherans and some others. He didn't want any Baptist( he said they were all mouth), any government workers, any union or ex union members and no men who didn't serve their country in military service. You can see why it was a small group.
As bad as his view might look, the average conservative today more than likely is not what you or I might have in mind. This is a very liberal country. Go to most of our state schools and see what is being taught. That is why even at my age I was what is called today home schooled. He didn't trust government folks or government education.
I still say we need a man with vision and leadership. If BHO could get elected with his smooth talk and saying change, what would a man with leadership and vision on the conservative side do?

And the Marxists know it! They are on constant watch to either corrupt, prosecute, imprison, and—if need be—murder one who can do so.

    Our only recourse is prayer.

After I gave my answer on why I don't care for Ron Paul, a friend of mine who is a big Ron Paul backer and I ask 97 folks who were Ron Paul backers, who they voted for in the last election. I don't know if their answer was truthful or not but I'll take them at their own word.

53 of them voted for BHO, 23 wrote in Ron Paul, 13 for McCain, 5 for Baldwin and 3 for Bob Barr. One could say Bob Barr leans to the conservative side and Baldwin is or leans in that direction, but McCain and BHO is or leans to the liberal side.

So down here his strength isn't from the conservative side but from the liberal side, if their votes mean anything.

I think you will find it had to do with the hope that Barack Obama would reverse the interventionist foreign policy of the Bush administration. Unfortunately, that has not happened...but that was the hope. And the fact that it hasn't happened is reason enough to never vote for another major party candidate for any public unless it is a truly limited government candidate such as Ron Paul or Rand Paul.

Everyone was looking for something, change. With his past record, he could have offered me a million dollards and I don't think I could have voted for BHO. What he wanted and his past record was way more than I could stand.

My friend, I do agree with you on smaller government, maybe that is why I haven't voted for one of the two major parties in a long time. I can't say much about Rand Paul, because I don't know much about him, but on Ron Paul I don't think I could ever support him.
