Married Couples Pay More Than Unmarried Under Health Bill

    Yes, and no. Married couples won't pay more than unmarried couples across the board. Depending on income, some married couples will pay more than the total of some inviduals who are cohabitating. That said, it's an inequity that needs to be remedied. Of course, my remedy is to just to dump the whole legislation in the first place.

    If the healthcare bill passes, I have to wonder whether the gay community will decide that they don't mind so much if they can't get married. I always found it very odd that the gay marriage debate got rolling somewhere around the time that the "marriage penalty" was removed from the tax code.
